The saying translated to risking it all for a big win which was perfect considering “they were fighting to win two wars: the war against the Germans in Europe and the war against racial prejudice in America.”</div>]]></description>

(Not including awards given by foreign governments)<br><br>Their hard work as a unit clearly did not go unnoticed as they left WW2 as the most decorated Combat Team.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>From the single "Distinguished Service Cross" award given to the 9,486 "Purple Hearts" given, the men who fought for this group were widely recognized for their courageous efforts. About the most  prestigious and well known awards is that of the "Medal of Honor" in which these men did not leave without. 21 of those exact awards were given to those who risked their lives for a country that was not doing their own race justice.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Even though the 442nd Infantry would soon be demobilized after WW2, their efforts would go on to greatly impact the future. These men threw out any racial questions or qualifications need in serving the United States. They showed despite the trouble going on in their homeland, anyone still had the capability to fight for the country they love, just as they did.<br><br>Although the original 442nd infantry no longer exists, the infantry quickly came reactivated for the wars to follow. With their current headquarters at Fort Shafter the combat team is most recently acknowledged for their efforts in Iraq.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After the men had been fighting so well, "they were reassigned to the invasion of southern France under the 7th Army and took part in the drive into the Vosges Mountains." This was one of their main goals and took place in September of 1944.<br><br>The men then found themselves liberated 3 towns in order to save the 36th Texas Division. This was one of their most widely recognized battle of their time in WW2 as they sustained heavy casualties and continued to push to save both the 36th division and their country.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Part of the reason the 442nd Infantry had such great success was due to the fact that they were under command of General Mark W. Clark. As a former WW1 veteran along with being one of the few generals who opposed internment, he led the infantry through many hard fought battles and victories. He would continue his success throughout the war and would eventually take command over the 15th army group.</div>]]></description>
