I've spent the first week preparing my space for practicing meditation. I've also picked up a book about becoming unplugged during meditaion and a meditation journal guide. I've currently been writing in my 52 List Project since the beginning of the year, and I will continue doing so as it helps reflect on all the positive aspects of life and helps identify what is important to you! Here is my little meditation space filled with knowledge, light, family, and good vibes

The Winter Blues...

I've been home alone all weekend which has been SOOO nice, but being cooped up inside with the ice we have been getting had me feeling that winter blues a bit more. With no one home, I was able to utilize anywhere in the house to meditate. I decided on a spot that I was able to appreciate the winter. My meditation was focused on the positivity of life. I'm here. I'm breathing. The snow, the ice, is beautiful and magical.

Life feels so busy for all of us. I'm finding that my most productive use of time now, is the 5 minutes I take to refocus and breath. I prioritize better, am more productive, and more appreciative of the "little things." (I know, cliche') But it's true! Namaste.

I was fortunate enough to spend some time with my best friend and family in some pretty cool places over spring break. We were so busy having fun, I never really got a chance to practice meditation in a traditional sense. However, the benefits from meditation followed me into my vacation and truly allowed me to appreciate every moment. I didn't know my friend took this picture, and little did she know I was putting some meditation skills to work. Have you every focused enough to appreciate the feeling of the waves, sand, and sun ? It's quite amazing when you take a second to live in the moment. I've been to the ocean a dozen times, but now I really know what it feels like and will remember that feeling forever.

I'm trying to get into this form of mediation where you focus on an object instead of your breath. In the cycle of focus and refocus, the flame provides a point to come back to when you catch yourself drifting. Commonly used are a single flame, stones, and even a scented oil placed in your palms.
