In colombia many of the food is rice based with soups broth. There are a lot of variety of seafood which is regularly accompanied of cassava and green plantain.
Every meal you eat at Colombia will be accompanied with certain kind of soup. One of them is the ajiaco de pollo which is very popular in central colombia and its main ingredients are chicken and potato.  Another traditional food is the Mondongo soup which main protein ingredient is the cow’s stomach and is served with potatoes and carrot. For breakfast, the arepa is something you cannot miss in the Colombian cuisine, this is a corn based tortilla with cheese on the inside. Colombia also offers a  vast array of seafood depending on the district. One of the is the Piracucu fish which is hunted in the Amazon and is a giant fish prepared with garlic and salt seasoning.

Carnivals are important occasions in Colombia as well as in other parts of Latin America. The origin of carnivals historically comes from 40 days before lent. People  wanted to celebrate before going into celibacy. 
There are different types of carnivals in Colombia, they all are very folcloric, full of joy, parties and parades. 
People form different socila classes dress up as different cultural characters like "pacha mama" (mother Earth) and the Black mama.
