However, this is also an issue that some families face  in 1st world countries like SG. However there are many non profit organizations that helps these people some examples include :  

On a worldwide scale: Why Hunger
In Singapore :  Willing Hearts. 

Having said that, these organizations have a limit that they can help with. 

Raising food donations and funds for other countries, helping one another out instead of leaving each other behind to reduce the likeliness of poverty

Most Singaporeans do not know that such an issue exists. 

Moreover, people who are experiencing food insecurity may not ask for assistance due to societal pressure and they may feel embarrassed to ask for it as well.

However, students tend to not have the right mindset when participating in VIA, they could have been forced to go or only participate for their testimonial.

There is an inadequate distribution of volunteers as these non profit organisations do not have the sufficient funds to continue their operations and there are not enough stakeholders donating the funds. Not many organisations publicise themselves frequently either, so potential volunteers may not know the existence of these organisations.

Moreover, they are also scared of rejection when asking for help. 

Elderly: not enough income to last them after retirement; may not have caretakers to help them (housebound).

PWDs: Disabilities may lead to job loss resulting in reduced earning. Also, they need to take out their leftover earnings to pay for their health bills and may not have enough for their food. Having disabilities also limits themselves to get food on their own.

Family with many Children: They have many children hence parents have to take out more money out of their pocket for their children daily meals, not only that but they have to pay for school fees etc. So, they have a lot on their plate and their finances are very tight.

An increase of food organisations in Singapore would lead to a demand in volunteers but if the organisation is not publicised, there will be an unbalanced number of volunteers throughout. This will lead to families to face food insecurities which will lead to people thinking there is a need for more organisations and the cycle will continue

So for the arrow from "Lack Of Wealth", it basically is a factor that increases/ adds on to food poverty while the arrow from "stable income" is a factor that decreases/doesn't affect food poverty. The blue arrows are related to volunteers/social workers. Having a sufficient number of social workers will not affect food poverty negatively as people would be getting the aid they need while the "lack of social volunteers" is a factor that does affect food poverty negatively as if there is a lack of volunteers for food organisations, sufficient help would not be given and not everyone would get the help they need. For the green arrows, they point to factors which are affected by the lack of wealth. For "families facing hunger", one of the main reasons why they face hunger (like in one of the videos shown today) is because there is a lack of wealth/they have an unstable income. Whereas for "families not facing hunger", they are not affected negatively as they could have a stable income and may not be lacking in wealth.
