Artist statement: I chose to draw this because it coveys the world being in a sustainable environment. There are bicycles and windmills in the city, which are all more sustainable than the original coal method, which produces more carbon emissions and is even more harmful to the environment. With these methods, we can reduce the impact of global warming and save the environment. the world is clean and there are no carbon emissions, which is what I hope Singapore can be in the near future, as well as the world with everyones collaborative effort. I hope together, we can make this earth a more sustainable, environmentally friendly, and greener place.

What are 3 areas you have learned about printmaking?

1.

Artist Statement: I chose this artwork because it shows how we can save planet Earth from pollution, instead turning to greener methods like wind turbines. It also shows people cycling instead of driving a car and there are many birds in the air. There are also many trees in the artwork, which can help make the world a greener, less polluted place. It tells us about the topic of sustainability, which can enable us to live comfortably for a much longer time. It will also allow our planet to replenish many of its natural resources that us humans have wasted in a short period of time.

1.

So, I see trees in this thing and I drew trees because I was inspired by the issues on Global Warming and I think deforestation is a massive problem, planting trees helps a lot because it gives shade and gives out oxygen. I imagined in the future, with more trees being cut down, the entire earth would be extremely hot and it would not be comfortable for people to live in there. I do not want this to happen, as a result, I drew trees.

1. 3 areas I have learnt about printmaking is how to make the work more interesting is by putting in special features such as positive and negative space. Another thing I have learnt is how to carve. I learnt how to use the U and V carving tool after Teacher taught me how to use. One more thing that I have learnt is the 4 types of printmaking.

2. In the recycling sign, it has pictures that depict the components of reaching a greener future. To me, this symbolises the factors we need to consider to achieve sustainable living. The picture is divided into 2 sides, one with global warming and the other with sustainable living. This artwork shows what will our beautiful earth turn into if we do not take care of the environment. I hope that through this artwork, people will learn to appreciate our earth, and keep it clean and green.
1) 1. I learnt that printmaking allows artworks to be duplicated very easily.
2.I learnt about the 4 types of printmaking and how to do it.
      3. I have learnt that there are 2 types of tools used for printmaking, namely the V-shaped tool and the U-shaped tool. They help with each other seamlessly when printmaking.

2) 1. I would like to improve on my design. My design is not very intricate and clear so I would like to make it more intricate and let it have more details so it looks pleasing.
    2. I would like to improve on my technique of carving. When I was carving, I realised that I used too much strength to carve the linopad and it resulted in me getting tired easily. I think I should not use excessive strength to carve the artwork, so the design can also be consistent and that I can be able to finish the artwork faster.
3) Since the world has become more digitalized and we are living in a world of mobile devices and therefore I would like to learn digital pixel art, as I think that it is not only interesting but also memsmerizing.

hello teacher i forgor 💀 to include an artist statement, so here it is

I chose this artwork because it shows the greener version of Singapore. I hope that we are able to go into a greener version for Singapore so that we are able to develop into a better future. This may slow down the rate of global warming, and save the earth. After this, we may go into greener lifestyles, which will helper generations to come. I hope that our future generations will be able to understand how to save our environment. The picture shows solar panels. Since Singapore is not able to generate electricity using other renewable sources of energy, like wind, water and geothermal methods. However, Singapore is still able to generate electricity using Sun. This way, we will decrease the number of fossil fuels burnt and used to make electricity each year. This will reduce the bad gases produced, making this a greener society. The picture also shows many plants. The plants are able to trap light from the Sun, photosynthesise, take in carbon dioxide, and give out oxygen. 6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O2 is the equation. The amount of carbon dioxide in the air will decrease significantly, while the oxygen will increase. Therefore, the ph level, or potential hydrogen in the air, will increase. pH = - log [H3O+] is the formula for potential hydrogen in the air. Hence, the ph level of the water in the ocean will increase. The sea creatures in the ocean will grow bigger and healthier. This will fight overfishing and give time to fishes in the ocean to grow and reproduce, restoring their original population. Many fishes in the ocean have gone extinct due to this problem, and I believe that if our environment is able to become like such, we will grow into a cleaner and greener environment.

Title of Artwork: The Light Bulb of Sustainable Future
Full Name: Liu Tomas
Class: 1B
Artist Statement:
This artwork shows a light bulb with trees and wind turbines inside it, representing a world, or a future powered by clean and sustainable energy. I often see people and organisations emphasising the importance of sustainable energy. So I was inspired to create this artwork by the increasing need for sustainable energy of the world, and the posters and articles about sustainable energy why should we use sustainable energy.
I also think that using such kinds of energy is a great thing for both the environment and for the humanity. As unlike most types of energy we are using, like fossil fuels, sustainable energy not only it produces no emission that can pollute environment, it also does not depend on any non-renewable resource that cannot replenish and it is an endless supply of energy for our daily needs.
As problems like climate change and global warming becomes more severe, humanity needs to resort to cleaner and more sustainable sources of energy. In order to solve these global issues, we have to step into a sustainable future.

1.
I have learnt how to transfer an image from a picture into a pencil drawing effciently. We do this first putting a piece of graphite transfer paper between the picture and a blank paper. Then, we use a pen or pencil to trace the image on the picture and the transfer paper will "print" the marking we have drawn onto the blank paper.

I have also learnt how to transfer the image of the pencil drawing to a lino pad. We do this by putting the pencil drawing onto the lino pad and applying pressure on the back of the paper. By doing this, the drawing on the paper will be transferred onto the lino pad

Finally, I learnt how to carve out the picture from the lino pad. We use a carving nice and trace out the image on the lino pad. We must do this carefully as this step will directly affect the quality of the final product.

2.
I would like to improve the thickness of the edges of the image I carved out on the lino pad to make the image looks more evenly and beautiful.

I would also like to improve on how I carve out a large, continuing portion of the lino pad so that it looks better and more organised. Furthermore, carving the large part properly will minimise the disruption of the printed image.

3.
I would like to learn how make artworks such as drawings looks more three-dimentional. That is, how to make the size of objects and proportions of objects change properly as distance changes so that instead of a simple, flat drawing, the artwork can appear more rich and realistic.

But there are many reasons why organic food is good. Organic food is safer for consumption and greener for the environment. It does not include the use of chemical fertilizers, which affect the atmosphere. There are some reasons why organic food is good.

Artist statement: I chose this artwork to represent global warming, and how we need to do our part in saving the earth. Such as using solar panels or making wind turbines. I have learnt that printmaking is a very arduous and tedious process where you have to first choose a picture, outline it, transfer it to the linopad and carve it out. You also need a lot of materials, such as a carver, linopads and safety gloves so that you do not injure yourself. Lastly, the results of printmaking are very good. I feel that my artwork is bad at the carving part where I had to carve it as I always end up using too much force to carve and end up making a hole in the linopad. My carvings are also very uneven and I think that I should work on that aspect. And when I was rolling the ink on to the paper, I should have pressed down a little harder to make the ink more visible.
I hope to learn pottery in art.

Artist statement: I went throught the internet looking for a good picture on the topic of sustainability. And I found this, somewhere deep in the forest, accompanied by giant panes of solar panels. Technology for the renewable, clean energy, with the nature producing oxygen for lowering the carbon emission and the amount of crewd oil consumed. Not only is this good for the earth, it benefits humans ourselves greatly. Lower carbon emission means slower increase in the global temperature, and better air quality, enhancing our healths greatly. All of the obove portrays a sustainable and bright future ahead.
Three things I have learnt :
1.With decorations and extra textures in the empty spaces would provide the art work with a more decent layering, they are great as backgrounds as well.
2. The strength used in each stroke should be very well controlled, even the slightest mistake in the application of strength might ruin the art work.
3. Sometimes the background could be slightly less detailed so as to spotlight the more important things, giving the others a clearer idea of what the work is conveying.
Two areas I would like to improve on :
1. The carving skills and strength applied. In carving, the strength applied effects the end product greatly, if the right angle and strength is applied, even the dullest tool can make a perfect piece of work. With more precision, the lines would turn out clearer and straighter, looking more decent to the eyes. For my case, I did not apply the right strength for the start and made a few mistakes. My carving skills are not mature as well, causing many lines to end up being crooked.
2. More texture can be added. I did not put in texture for placed like the mountain and the lines in the sky are way too plain.
One area in are/design I would like to learn :
I would like to learn pottery or just practise skatching further to enhance my skills.
