This song appears to have the speaker as Bryce Vine. Researching the background information, it doesn't have a specific occasion.

His audience, according to the video is the girl that is riding in the passenger seat with him. The purpose of the song is the get that girl to hangout with him more, go on dates, move to California, and start a relationship together. This becomes the subject: put your mind to anything you want.

Vine uses logos, pathos, and ethos throughout the lyrics and music video in "La La Land" to explain how he met the woman of his dreams which he now wants to start a life with in California. Vine uses examples of imagery, metaphors, atmosphere, and apprehension to get his message across to her.

Lyrics Analysis- Logos

Logos- the definition of logos states it is a rhetorical or persuasive appeal to the audiences logic and rationality. Vine uses Logos to get his message across that he met the woman of his dreams. The first example is "oh shit, you born in the Hamptons." We can assume that most people born in the Hamptons are born into money, or have a well paying job. In addition he said "no need for money though." She may have money but that's not the only reason he want to start a relationship with her. If they take the money aspect out of their relationship it would still be the same. In the final part of the song he states, "just broke up wit' yo man, it's the right time." We can assume that she just got out of a relationship with another man. We don't know how long she was in that relationship with him, she may just want to have time for herself but Vine thinks otherwise.

Lryics Analysis- Ethos

Ethos means convincing an audience of the reliable character or credibility of the speaker/writer, or the credibility of the argument. Bryce uses the line "your pics is a blessing." This uses ethos to describe what kind of woman this is. Bryce thinks that looking at her pictures is a "blessing" because of how beautiful she is. "Got time, but you got goals," she's saying she doesn't have time to spend with him because she has more important things she needs to work on rather than a relationship. Towards the end of the song he states, "your friends said don't fuck wit' me, straight hatin'." Her friends are saying she shouldn't hangout with him because he's a bad guy, but just because her friends think he's a bad guy doesn't prove that he actually is.

Vine used logo by having them drive down a nice street passing Tesla's, Audi's, Range Rovers meaning they're in a nice neighborhood. He reaches back to grad something and put the trust in her to hold the steering wheel so they don't crash. The entire time they've been hanging out they only drove around, so it makes us wonder if it's a date or just friends hanging out.

Vine uses ethos by showing the girl he's with is taking selfie which she'll probably post on social media, but we don't know if she'll tag him or not. We also notice that she's been on her phone a lot which may be a sign she is bored and wants to go home. The last one he used was when she was smoking to prove that she isn't a goody goody.
