The cause of the Stock Market Crash and the Great Depression were irresponsible banks, credit, and buying on margin. Irresponsible banks were giving out loans to just about everyone and were investing their customers money without their knowledge. Credit allowed consumers to buy without having the money up front and this lead to banks giving away customer´s money and not getting the return. Buying on Margin allowed people to invest in Stocks but at a high risk which if they did not succeed they would owe the bank a lot of money.

Roosevelt took steps to provide reform during the Great Depression by implementing The New Deal, Retirement, and FDIC. The New Deal was a campaign starter for Roosevelt and helped people get their trust back in banks and economy. Retirement Funds proposed by FDR helped because it gave a cushion for the elderly, opened up work space for young, and boosted economy. FDIC better known as Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation led to the willingness of people putting their money back in banks.
