It divided the city in half. East Germany transitioned from being a nation to a prison. 250,000 people were imprisoned for plotting escapes to the West over the course of the following 28 years. This is because of thanos death. He went into the future to try to destroy the avengers and he had a whole army with him. Once he got there, the avengers were ready and they had an army that was just as big as thanos army. Right at that point thanos knew he lost power but still had to fight. The avengers ended up defeating his army but Iron man died.
