I lived in a normal little city of China since I was a child. Same as most of the other China southern city, four season a year is the standard condition for us.
Normally I would say there are not much special custom in my hometown but I do think I have something could say due to I now have some foreign friends
to talk to.
Now I pick one of them to show you.Though, the middle autumn has already gone by, there something we can discuss about , like food. You know we Chinese
people make kind of sweets called "mooncake" for the special Festival, I'd say it's more a pancake than a cake, people put all those creative matierial in it, but
one thing wouldn't be in outside my hometown----ham, I'm not quite a fan of ham mooncake ,but I do admit it's really a creative thought to put that salty meat
into this usually sweet food. To make this it take a lot of time to make the ham, much longer than mooncake itself, it usually take a whole family to do this "great work"
From that, we or I always get closer to the family

With the rapidly developing of the society ,culture have changed greatly. In the city, no one can escape from the fast pace. And as a result, the traditional culture are believed becoming lost. However ,why the traditional culture are becoming lost?First, we eat the popularized fast food and enjoy the popularized "fast food" culture. Since we get used to such fast things that many traditional things have been ignored.Second, we have brought up many other cultures, those culture are more popular than our owe culture for the young people ,they interest in the other cultures because those cultures are new things and the youngs are curious about new things .And young people stand for the future culture So many people believe that the traditional culture will gradually be lost.
To some traditional cultures that are on decline, we have taken active measures to conserve them. Experts have come up with proper advice on protecting such cultures. Many volunteers have dedicated themselves to studying them. First and foremost, more and more people have discerned the importance of the traditional culture. Therefore, we are sure that our efforts will lead to a brilliant future.
If a culture wants to gain an eternal life, it should change itself to cater to the people in its age. So does our traditional culture. Traditional cultures adhering to modern means appear rigorous. For example, we make CDs for classic music so that it can not only meet modern needs but also spread further and more successfully in the modern world. The appearance of traditional culture changes, but the essence will never change and will be well accepted.

On the contrary of your Day of Death, we Chinese people have something similar to,

The Zhongyuan Festival, or as you may know, the Ulambana Festival, it’s also a day about

death and it also has it’s meaning in memory of ancestor.

In this day, as saying goes: the ghosts will return to this world, but I’s not just spirits of ancestors, there are also something else, they may do something to the living people, so it’s not recommended it be outside. Besides that, we fete our ancestors and this land under our feet, releasing river-lamps, sacrificing the paper money, though it’s about death but it also has its core in memory of ancestor and celebrating the harvest,

In Chinese ancient book “Yi Jing”, 5000 years ago people say :7 is a number of change and reviving, and it’s a number full of ’Yang’, which is one kind of life energy, ancient people choose this day to believe that the people who had gone will return, as saying, on this night, gate of the underworld will be open wide, the spirits with their belonging will go home, those without be hanging out and longing for feed, and the soul with guilt and hate will be pardoned through this time.

Despite all those myth part in this day (we wouldn’t usually call it a festival), what’s behind is our inherited heart of missing the one we love, and I think on this aspect there shall be not much different from contries.

陈纳川1930200095
The Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together, just like Christmas in the West. All people living away from home go back, becoming the busiest time for transportation systems of about half a month from the Spring Festival. Airports, railway stations and long-distance bus stations are crowded with home returneesThe Spring Festival falls on the 1st day of the 1st lunar month, often one month later than the Gregorian calendar. It originated in the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600 BC-c. 1100 BC) from the people's sacrifice to gods and ancestors at the end of an old year and the beginning of a new one. Strictly speaking, the Spring Festival starts every year in the early days of the 12th lunar month and will last till the mid-1st lunar month of the next year. Of them, the most important days are Spring Festival Eve and the first three days. The Chinese government now stipulates people have seven days off for the Chinese Lunar New Year.
