I think our online experience last year made us so much more enthusiastic about the opportunity to collaborate on our work and connect with one another in person - the dynamic and camaraderie of the science group made me excited to go to class every day. I found myself often in the position of the one who fills in the gaps - I generated new ideas and looked for things we may have forgotten to address, and found that I was good at helping with planning and logistics. I relied on my team members and trusted them with all parts of the process, and was so pleased with how well we communicated and worked together in this and other courses. ]]> 2021-12-11 19:22:48 UTC https://padlet.com/emmabeaton1/3giy0gmbbzumc90/wish/1942014772 emmabeaton1 https://padlet.com/emmabeaton1/3giy0gmbbzumc90/wish/1942030897 When I started this course, I assessed myself as identifying with the 3rd image in the progression of overlap between the 3 sectors of Technology, Pedagogical, and Content knowledge. At this point, in Week 12, I would say that I have absolutely increased all of these fields of knowledge and that their overlap with one another have increased, and have summarized my educational journeys with each of these below. 

Technology: I did not feel confident in my understanding of educational technology at the beginning of this course, but found that through our experiences using the iPads, Merge Cube app, and Greenscreen app as well as experimenting with PHeT allowed me to increase this knowledge and feel less fear around trying to use new tech for the first time. 

Pedagogical: I learned a lot about science teaching pedagogy from my group members, as we all have different approaches and were able to contribute to one anothers' knowledge bases. I have a much better idea of where and when to apply certain technologies, through being exposed to so many through the group and individual show and tells and hearing my classmates' insightful comments about each one.  

Content: I think that I've increased my content knowledge through reflecting on where and when to apply certain technologies - I need to know my curriculum content intimately in order to know where the application of a certain tech would be most beneficial. I've always been a hands on  kind of scientist, preferring to work in field biology than crunch data in the lab, but my content knowledge of biology is quite good - however, working with the science group and drawing from other's content knowledge from their specialties (chemistry, physics etc) helped me in these areas immensely.
