First of all, the biggest advantage of self-studying is independence. Learners need to develop responsible attitude on their own in order to complete their tasks without any push from peers or teachers. Secondly, they might also have more time and freedom studying on their own since they are under no control of anybody. Lastly, confidence is probably a result from their self-study process. They face challenging questions constantly, but because they could not receive any help from professional people, they need to find their own way to tackle and finish the assignments. By doing that, confidence will gradually build up within them and give them the courage to cope with any other challenges in the future.

On the other hand, there are many disadvantages accompanied. Firstly, self-study is time-consuming. It takes learners more time to figure out the solution to the problems than when they have supports from teachers. Therefore, they would not have much time left to relax or even to complete other tasks. Apart from that, self-study equals doing things on your own, which also means no teamwork is involved.
