Yes I do in fact think it is completely fair because he has his own family, his own goals and his own dreams to take care of so you can't really blame him for not going. However, if Amir truly feels guilty about what he did when he was a kid he would go and help that Sohrab. The decision to not help a kid would also be incredibly selfish and he would never seek redemption and would be repeating his past mistakes.

I dont think this is fair for him to not want to leave and get sohrab, but I feel at this point in the story we cant expect much more from him. Amir has proven that he gets scared and shies away in pressure situations such as hassan's 🤬. So I dont think it is fair but that is who Amir is.

I think it's fair for Amir to leave his life and get Sohrab because Hassan has always had his back even when he didn't have to. It's fair for Amir to do this one thing for somebody else and not just care about himself. Also most of the people always had his back, so he has to have someone else back. Also his life is better so if he helps it's going to be good for everyone.

Then I will say it's not fair to leave his life to get Sohrab, because he has his wife and his own family he has to take care off. Also everyone has their own problem, he can help but can't leave everything just for one person.

Now that Hassan needs Amirs help again, he owes it to him to help and make amends.

No, I don't think that it's fair. What happens in chapter 17 is unpleasant. Since Amir has to rescue Sohrab from the same person that raped Hassen a long time ago, it's essentially Hassen revisiting his past. He was a coward in that past situation, so now it's time for him to redeem himself.

I don't think this is fair for Amir to leave and get Sohrab, as we've seen already, Afghanistan is a scary place, filled with different views and opinions from people. We know that Amir gets easily scared when something bad happens, so leaving his wife to go get Sohrab means he's gonna put his life at risk. Also, we know Hassan and Amir were never in the same class, so someone knowing that Amir is taking Hassan's child, a Hazara, could put Amir and his life in danger.

Sohrab being Hassan's son he should want to help because Amir and hassan were so close. Both of his parents died and he was sexually abused, so Amir should want to help.

I don't think it is fair that Amir doesn't want to leave his safe life to get sohrab. I say this because Amir is trying to feel like he made up for what happened to Hassan, but he won't do the hard part himself because that is what he is used to all his life. I think he owes it to Hassan and there friendship to go get sohrab himself after the incident, cutting Hassan off, and Hassan's death. If this is really important to him he would leave this safe life to get Sohrab.

I don’t think that it’s fair for many reasons. After what happened during the kite tournament, Amir owes Hassan in a sense. He’s been so guilty and sulked about it for years, this is the perfect opportunity to pay him back. Aside from owing Hassan, Hassan would undoubtedly take in Amir’s son if something where to happen, and raise him as his own. It is understandable why he wouldn’t want to return to Afghanistan though, he spent so much time trying to get out.
