         <title>I´m going to talk about my experience this year at IES La Canal, a High School in Petrer (Alicante-Spain). I could talk about the behaviour of my pupils, but I´m going to talk about the difficulties of solving an equation. This is a big problem this year because I can see everyday how pupils have a lot of mistakes when they hace to solve an equation, and that´s a problem which shouldn&#39;t´ occur in this level of Sciences. I think that the main problem is related to the lack of attention in class and, maybe, a lack of studying at home.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I have read in some posts that some of the teachers work at high schools where every pupil has a computer in each classroom, I must say that here in Spain is very difficult to see this kind if things nowadays.<br>1) I use technology everyday in my classroom, such as power points, videos and other apps in order to explain some phenomena.<br>2) For developing digital skills is very important to have resources in our high schools, and unfortunately this doesn't´t happen now.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In my opinion, the three most important soft skills within STEM fields are:<br>1. Empathy: one way of practice it in the classroom is changing roles of pupils.<br>2. Speak in public: it´s very important to lose our fear of talking in front of people, just because some day we will hace to do it.<br>3. Know how to work with other people: most of us work with others everyday, and we must work together in order to improve ourselves and the way of working in groups, where everyone must know which is his/her role.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Depending on the group where I´m teaching, I can develop a different method. If I´m working with pupils of lower levels, I try to do a very practical class in order to make them understand the importance of Sciences.<br>But if we are talking about higher levels at high school, the method is different, just because we have to consider the curricula, and we have to prepare them for final exams.<br>For example, I teach Physics in an intermediate level, and I try to use very quotidian examples in order  to explain natural phenomena.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I have already used the following practices:<br>1. Utilize career materials to explain some phenomena.<br>2. Invite guests speakers. Two months ago, a physicist from an institute of Particles Physics, came to my high school for a speech.<br>3. Share personal experiences. I´ve talked with my pupils about my experience when I was studying chemistry at university.<br>Three practices that I haven´t used:<br>1. Incorporate authentic research.<br>2. Support inclusion of sciences careers.<br>3. Be a mentor.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I work as a teacher of physics and chemistry in Alicante, and last February a physicist who works in the Institute of particles in Valencia came to speech about his work and what you need to work there. All the pupils got impressed about the research of this institute and he made a lot of questions to him. It was a good experience for everyone.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In my community there are a lot of enterprises which are related to shoes. Most of them manufacture them, but other of them are dedicated to investigate several types of glue, so they can improve their fabrication. In fact, here in Elda, there´s a technological institute which is dedicated exclusively in the research of shoes. Other ways to encourage pupils is visiting university. Last year, my pupils of Physics and Chemistry of 2o Bachillerato went to the university of Murcia to take part in some laboratory experiences, and they had a great moment there.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Only big companies in Spain can dedicate a part of their time in forming future scientists. Some of this companies are banks, or even universities, but from my point of view, there aren´t a lot of opportunities to encourage pupils to get a good job in the future, and that´s a problem related to all the governments that we  have suffered over the last years.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Advantages: to work with people who develop an important role inside a big company, and that´s a good way to get experience to know if you could like working in such a place.<br>Disadvantages: pupils are too young to stay for a long time away from home, although this could be an advantage, just because it´s a good way for pupils to grow in their lives.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>From my point of view, the best way to engage and encourage students to STEM careers is attending to several sciences fairs, in order to get a lot of ideas of how they can choose one or another career in the next future. Nonetheless, it´s very difficult to take pupils to this kind of fairs, just because of the distance.</div>]]></description>

They can learn of lot if they talk to STEM professionals in order to get more information about what kind of jobs they do and how to reach them. It´s a ver very good idea.</div>]]></description>
