 This is a story about a boy, Greg Heffley, who stumbled upon many unfortunate events in his daily life, filled with all sorts of hardships which can be humorous and pitiable at the same time.

Greg is a boy with various problems in his life; trouble with his family, friends, and even with the middle school he's attending. He is very concerned about his status quo in his middle school, and he often daydreams about being rich and famous when he grows up.
His daily life is always hectic as his elder brother, Rodrick often bullies him every time they encountered each other. Plus, his spoiled younger brother, Manny never gets into trouble even after frequently playing pranks on him. Greg also has a plump friend named Rowley, who is always by his side and always be there with him to endure any misfortune events. 

Greg and Rowley are hoping that they will leisurely spend their school life smoothly and wanting to spend their entire summer vacation by playing video games together. It's just, for me, the main character is somewhat pathetic. Sometimes, the story might be humorous, but what if we are in his position; to be in his shoes? Once in a while I do have that kind of thoughts while reading the book. In my opinion, I like story that has suspense and mind-blowing plot twist more that this kind of book. It is still a fun, yet childish novel and younger readers would take the most from it since they can relate to the story to a certain degree. I recommend this book to younger teenagers that mainly only seek entertainment while reading a book.
