Many people from Ireland, Russia, Poland or Germany immigrated to the United states. Many of the immigrated women had to work in sweatshops. Sweatshops are crowded factories that make immigrated women work 12 hours a day. Between 1882 and 1924 the U.S. Congress passed a series of laws limiting the number of immigrants. The act allowed almost no immigration from China and Japan. The men were also put to work while also trying to get a house, food and water for their family. Even the kids were put to work even though they didn't even choose to do it. Families of six were put into tiny apartments called tenements. They weren't even alone there were other families in the same apartment. They had to share everything. Imagine 3 families of 6 in the same apartment. That would be very crowded. Imagine being a kid a mom or a dad. It would be hard having to go thru all that labor and work 12 hours a day or more. When you get home you can't do anything cause you work 12 hours a day, You would get home sleep and go back to work. If I were one of them I would do my best to run away. From the text it said, "Russian men were escaping long years of army service. Russian and Polish Jews were fleeing religious persecution or cruel and unfair treatment.'' Poland had been divided and taken over by neighboring countries. In Italy, low prices for farm products and other economic problems forced many Italians to emigrate in search of work.

its horrible to see how immigrant family's were very tight on cash and needed to make as much money possible because then kids also have to work imagine working in mines as a kid and they worked about 8-10 hours a day and many weren't able to provide for their family's in those times also many people came to America to have a better life but it didn't get much better for most immigrants and the Chinese immigrants were not able to move to America much anymore because the us government passed a law to stop pretty much most Chinese immigrants and they approved more laws to limit or shorten the amount of immigrants coming to america so some people could come and not be allowed so they wasted their money having a even worse life

We are living in small tenements with eight people in 2 rooms. It is stinky and sweaty, with barely enough space to live in. We have no showers and work for hours in the scorching heat of the desert. We get one meal a day and have to work 24/7, even if we are sick. We came to America to escape the Dust Bowl, but this is almost as bad. At least we had a house and a way to provide food for ourselves then. Our children have to work as young as 7! We are being made fun of and people are trying to stop immigrants from coming into America. I can´t help but wonder, ¨Why did we leave?!!¨ sometimes. I hope things are better in other places in America.

Here is my imagination of an immigrant coming to New York:

Today I arrived in New York! When my boat hit the dock, it felt like a miracle. My life flashed before my eyes, and I thought about the journey it took to get here from Vietnam. When I first got onto our ship, it was rickety and unstable, but I hoped for the best. I got to my room after the check-in, and it had so many people in line. And I am NOT exaggerating when I say that. My family and I now need to live in this cramped apartment with only 2 rooms, although I need to keep my hopes up for the next few days, which will be harder. Edit: y'all giving me so many comments 😭

They only allow 90,000 immigrants per year. So I 'm very lucky. But I hope I get a better life here. I'm still searching for a job. I only arrived like one week ago. Please give support and maybe a lot of lunch.

I'm not experienced at that, although it is my only option. When they hired me, they only gave me 10 cents per hour! It feels like an outrage to me. I heard rumors that they are firing other "American Born" people so they can hire immigrants for a cheaper price. I can't believe it! I decided to go on strike, but I then got fired. I am currently looking for a new job on Ellis Island.

Between 1882 and 1924 the United States passed a law that states that only a small number of immigrants were allowed to go to the United States. My family was trying to immigrate to New York. Lucky for us we were all able to pass through and get in New York City. But unfortunately we had to stay in a very small room in a 6 story building. There is barely any room and almost no fresh air. We all have to work even my 7 year old sister.

I can't believe that people in clothing shop/industry's have to work for 24 hours. I mean can you imagine having to do all of this stuff for 24 hours? And some of these people have to do this just to get minimum wage I mean this would be a nightmare. Not to mention that Chinese people couldn't get here just because a couple of people who work in the gooevrmant just don't want them to come I mean come n are we just going to ignore that?! And the police just don't care about that. they just go "hey James you want my donut? I am full" and then James goes like "nah and what do you want to eat for lunch?". And they are not realizing the fact that some guy in the background is brutally getting DESTROYED. I think that they deserve better rights. And that they should get better food. I am mad really mad and the fact that we are just learning this right now is very very annoying. They deserve better rights. they deserve better food. They deserve more money!! And more potatoe's. Rights shall be claimed I "?" will create a time machine that will allow me to stop this madness. Although that might create an ultimate paradox but still. these laws are out rageous I will change the past!! (please beware of spelling mistakes.

Part 3 (final part. I WILL WIN LUKE)

On Ellis Island, there are better paying jobs. Not as good as the best paying jobs, of course, but higher than before. They only pay 15 cents per hour... I paid for another hotel here with the only savings I had, and I made sure to buy the smallest one. Sadly, I had to have my children work as well. We need the extra money to survive, and I am eating just a small piece of bread per day to save the money I have. Rent is due in just a week, so I have to act quickly.

~the next day~

When I woke up, I got to work quickly. I work for half the day, and earn about only like $10 or less. Food is also expensive here, which is why I only have bread every day. I make sure to try and make diverse clothing, because that pays more. The other workers are really nice, and they help me with things I don't know, like sewing up gaps in my sleeves and shirts. One of their names is Kamila, who came from Japan. She is really nice to me, and knows a vit about clothing. Luckily, the next day, my pay was raised in DOUBLE! I am so excited, my family is proud. Altogether, my family earns about like $20 - $30 a day! I think i'll be able to pay rent when the time comes around.

~rent day~

I paid off the bills! My hard work brushed off in the end, and I was able to pay rent AND get enough food to feed us all! I really hope this will be easier in the future, and I think that I will be able to survive (for now).

~end credits~

Thank you all for reading my series and I am so surprised on how you guys acknowledge it. Thank you (again) for helping me and encouraging me to continue writing. :)
