- SEL Workshop expanded our learning and added to our knowledge. We believe that Mashrek is on track regarding the SEL journey. There is always room for improvement and development where we will focus more on the following points:
- Mapping of SEL skills within our curriculum
- Emphasizing on the Mindfulness sessions to be implemented regularly as a whole PYP community
- Educating our students about the SEL Skills and their impact on their well-being

This workshop is aligned with our beliefs and practices to insure we help students to become self-regulated learners and future leaders.

Teachers work hand in hand to create a friendly and safe environment where both sides have the freedom to express themselves and share thoughts and feelings providing them with the tools to accomplish this goal. Teachers should be flexible and sometimes let go and allow the students the choice and voice to express themselves and ideas openly.

The IB supports the CASEL framework, in the new IB platform schools can create their own subskills. Once we have a set framework it has to be embedded explicitly in the units of inquiry either spread over the year or as one unit, but should be practiced frequently. Students should be involved in decision making by providing them with multiple opportunities, for example, creating the essential agreement and have the to apply change that reflects their personality and beliefs. And always remember, better teacher wellbeing leads to better student wellbeing.

We learned a lot about IB Social and Emotional Learning, and it was an eye opener for some supportive documents related to SEL.

We were able to connect our prior knowledge about the function of the brain with what we watched in the video about the regions and how they are important when we implement strategies in the classroom.

there was an important topic that connect the positive attitude and energy with the school community since it is contagious.

ATL skills have a vital role in planning since it guides the teachers to develop all the skills of the students that are needed to build a life long learner.

the safe environment, accepting diversity, and group working are important to support the student to have a self awareness and self-management so he can be a global IB learner.

Emphasizing on the Mindfulness sessions to be implemented in the learning environment.

to help all learners to be provided with the SEL skills so that all learners will be ready for the community, it is important that each learner know the skills and its effect on his life and how to build the ones that he does not have.

all stakeholders need to work on uncovering all the paths for learners to ease their learning, and having the correct relationship with them that must be built on implementing the social emotional skills.

Setting a clear Essential Agreement at the beginning of the year with the learners may help in building a positive atmosphere between all parties.

As a result, the healthy environment for learners and teachers need to be built on implementing specific skills and tools; Motivating teachers and learners is vital to accomplish the learning cycle.
