After we read the textbook, students filled out a Venn Diagram of their different cultures with a partner. They then shared their Venn Diagrams with the class. The student mentioned holidays, culture, and language. Something they could do better is add more details. The only thing they wrote for their partner was that they were born in North Carolina. They did not include anything about their culture. She did mention a holiday, but she mostly listed things that had nothing to do with culture. She mostly wrote about her and her partner without mentioning culture. For example, she said they both have a dog and they both have the same teacher. She needs to go over what culture is. She needs to go over holidays and traditions. I feel if she understood culture more, she would have better results. She used religion, holidays, language, and military family. She gave more than one example in each section which is great. Something she can work on is explaining what "not Catholic" is. If her partner is not Catholic, what are they? I would like to see more than just "not Catholic."
