The life of a fangirl like me is not easy. It takes a lot of time, money and effort. There would be frustrations and sometimes even heartbreaks those things should not dispirit you because once you fulfill your dream, you would realize that everything's worth it.

I have always been a fan of indie music because I know that it's no walk in the park to be part of this genre. However, there's this band that I just love so much. They're called Tanya Markova. You probably have heard about them already because they always play with makeup on, which makes them standout. Frankly speaking, they are not the best sounding band I've heard but there's something in them that really captured my heart.

The first time I met them was obviously the most memorable day of my life. I was just a junior high school student that time so I didn't really have the means to follow them around especially since they usually play at bars and bistros so when I learned that they were included in the band lineup during the UP Fair that year, I wasted no time and asked permission to watch them from my parents. To my relief, they allowed me as long as I have someone to chaperone me. Kuya Karsten, my older cousin volunteered but I had to wait for him for at least an hour since was on duty as a nurse that day. Waiting for him made me anxious but I was decided that I would search the whole venue if I have to, should I miss their gig.

We arrived at the UP Sunken Garden at around 7:30 pm. We were lucky to find the perfect spot where we could clearly see the bands playing. It was really enjoyable at first but as time passed by, we started to feel hungry and exhausted from all the singing. With a heavy heart, I went with my cousin to grab a bite and left our precious place. I could barely eat though since I was both antsy and excited (it's not a good combination, believe me) but I tried to put all the negative thoughts out of my mind. "I will see Tanya Markova perform live. I will fulfill my dream." I chanted quietly but with conviction.

To our surprise, our place was still unoccupied so we rushed towards it. We sang along to more songs but it was getting really late and I couldn't hide my anxiety anymore. "What if we missed their performance? What if they couldn't make it after all and this was all for nothing?" My worries decreased when the hosts announced that Tanya Markova would be playing next. Finally! I hurriedly pushed my way to the front most part of the stage, ignoring the glares I got and waited for them nervously. At last, the hosts announced their name and boy, my heart was beating so fast. I watched in awe as they played their hits, "Linda Blair" and "Disney". I couldn't stop smiling even after their number. It was quick but it surely made me joyous.
As Kuya Karsten and I head outside, a weird idea popped in my head. "Kuya, let's wait for them backstage." I said. He looked at me like I was a lunatic. "It's already 3 am and I wanna sleep. You've seen them in flesh already. Let's go home now." He replied, walking past me. I came this far already. I'm going to make the most out of this. "Kuya please? Just this once." I begged him. He sighed. "Fine. But if they don't get out by ten minutes, we're out okay?" "Deal!" I agreed. 

The first one to get out was their drummer but I was so surprised that I forgot his name. Next one was their bassist, Skrovak Iskopanjo. "Kuya Kix!" I shouted, calling him by his real name. He approached us, smiling. "Uy!" he replied. "I'm your avid fan!" I introduced myself. "Wow, thank you." "Uhmm where's Kuya Harlon and Kuya Gel?" I inquired, referring to their two vocalists. "They were right behind me a while ago. Oh! There they are!"
I could not believe this. My two favorite persons are walking towards us.
"Hello! I'm the one who keeps on bugging you guys on Facebook and Twitter. My username is @chuminli08. Do you recognize me?" I said excitedly.
"Of course! Nice to finally meet you!" Kuya Harlon said, giving me a hug and shaking my cousin's hand. "Chumin! I knew it was you! You're no different in person!" Kuya Gelo added. I think I blushed at the nickname he gave me. "Uhm can we take a picture together?" I asked. "Sure!" They agreed, leaning closer to me. "Can we have it taken near a post lamp though? It's pretty dark already and uhmmm my phone's camera is not that good." I requested.
They all chuckled but they happily accomodated me.
After taking a few shots, I realized that I've been delaying them for too long already. "Mga kuya, thank you so much! I'm very hapy right now." I told them.
"You're welcome, Chumin! Feel free to approach us anytime!" Kuya Gel replied, pulling me for another hug.
"Thanks again! Bye!"
As we walked away, Kuya Karsten elbowed me and asked "Happy?"
"Are you kidding me? I'm on cloud nine!"
