 I am proud that I kept revising my theme and didn't just go with the first one because it got a lot better.

I am proud that I was able to get to a deeper theme that feels truer to my understanding of the WHOLE story rather than just one part.

The discussions I had with my group made a huge difference because talking about their "downs" in the beginning of the story helped me see that even though she had a house at the beginning she didn't feel at home. This helped me think smarter and realize that we all  have different perceptions and our feeling of being at home can come and go.

I want to work on putting my theme into "academic" written form and do a better job of explaining how I used the story to understand it. I feel like it captures a lot of the complexity I felt while reading the story. At the beginning of this year I had such a hard time putting the emotions and meaning I was getting from reading into words that made sense to other people. By talking with my group lots, focusing on specific words in the story that gave me the biggest emotional reaction, and making sure I considered the whole story when I worked my theme, I was finally able to say/write what I meant, which felt really good. Oh also, revising a lot made a huge difference.
