Ganesh Chaturthi is a very special festival for our family. Every year, we welcome Lord Ganesha into our home with love, prayers, and excitement. We decorate the space with flowers, lights, and rangoli, and place the idol of Ganesha with great devotion.

As a family, we come together to do the daily aarti, sing bhajans, and offer sweets like modaks, which are Lord Ganesha’s favorite. Our child actively participates by helping decorate, joining the prayers, and learning the significance of each ritual.

This celebration teaches the importance of faith, gratitude, and letting go — as we also do a small visarjan (immersion) on the last day, saying goodbye with the promise of welcoming Bappa again next year. It’s a beautiful time filled with joy, learning, and family bonding.

Family Tradition: Guru Ka Paath at Home

One of our special family traditions is organizing Guru Ka Paath at home, where we come together to recite prayers, sing Vaheguru bhajans, and reflect in a peaceful, spiritual environment.

In the video, Dheer is joyfully playing the manjeera while the bhajans were being sung. He was fully immersed in the moment and so happy to be a part of the prayer. It was heartwarming to see him connect with the rhythm and spirit of the bhajan with such innocence and excitement.

Through this tradition, we try to instill a sense of faith, devotion, and togetherness in our child. It helps him experience the joy of community prayer, understand the importance of gratitude, and feel proud of our cultural and spiritual heritage.

I look for the presents with my name and start opening them really fast! Wrapping paper goes everywhere, and I get so excited to see what’s inside.

Apart from the many festivals we celebrate, Kabir loves Holi. The night before Holi, we go to see the Holika Dahan, which means lighting a bonfire to symbolize the burning of evil. On Holi morning, all the kids gather together with their pichkaris and organic colours. Even the parents join in, and no one is safe from a splash. At the end of the day, everyone's soaked and super hungry. The day ends with a generous helping of puranpoli and gujiyas. There’s colour, fun and sweets and that’s everything Kabir loves in one day.
