Saint Cecilia was a virgin, saint and Roman martyr. It is believed that she was borin in Rome who as a child she vowed her virginity to God.
She was married against her will to a young pagan called Valerio.
She told him that an angel of God wished her to remain a virgin. He promised to respect this wish if he were allowed to see the angel. The condition for him to see the angel was to be baptized. He was baptized by Pope Urban. After the baptism he came back home with his brothher Tiburtius and they found the angel talking to Cecilia.
Both men converted to Christianism and were persecuted by Turco Almaquio.
Finally they were beheaded.
Cecilia was also denounced and sentenced to be thrown into the fire, but she was unharmed. Turco Almaquio then ordered her to be beheaded; Cecilia, expired after three days of agony. Pope Urban, buried her and consecrated her house as a basilica.
Saint Cecilia is an example of a Christian women because of the story of her martyrdom.
