This allows for design, creativity, as well as engineering all in one. While the students are using Language Arts skills and reading, they are also using engineering skills.

The book goes through with different animal parts, and therefore you could bring in living things, and even geography about where these animals live. Being able to add in habitats and ecosystems for each animal would make a great science lesson. The students could solve a problem and or create said ecosystem for their animal.

It can be a great way to introduce not only a strong female character, but also talk about history while you are reading. The engineering aspect is a great way to bring STEM into the classroom.
