Word cards can be created at school, eliminating the stress of finding materials to support this activity at home. Once the cards have been made, educators can send them home with a video link and paper instructions to support parents as they practice this activity at home. Students will be required to choose a word. Parents and students can read the word together, and then the child can break the word apart and verbally say the beginning, middle, and ending sounds—for example, Cat. To support multicultural families, word cards can be supplied in both languages.
