The digestive system is made up of many organs and helps break down food. In more detail the system helps you eat food like the mouth after you sallow it then it travel to the other digestive organs. Those organs then break down the food and turn it into nutrients which then get used for energy, growth, and cell repair. The food that did not meet the requirements to get turned into nutrients, gets turned into waste and goes in the toilet.

What is the job for each organ?

The mouth and the salivary glands are the first two organs in the digestive system, the mouth help break down the food and move it around in the mouth. The salivary glands makes saliva to help sallow the food which also makes it easier for the stomach to break down the food. After you sallow the food it travels in the esophagus, the esophagus helps carries that food to the stomach. Another note is that there is a ring at the end of the esophagus to prevent food from going back up to the esophagus. After the food travels from the esophagus it is now in the stomach. In the stomach it holds the food and makes enzymes as well as acids to help break down the food. It ends with the stomach breaking the food down all the way to a liquid or a paste.

Next comes the small intestine, it carries the rest of the food that you ate and absorbs most of the nutrients you get from your food. The nutrients then travel to your bloodstream to all the other organs in order for those organs to get energy. Afterwards its the large intestine, what it does is it does is 3 main key things, it helps "absorbing water and electrolytes, producing and absorbing vitamins, and forming and propelling feces toward the rectum for elimination" (National Library of Medicine paragraph 2). The anus is the last part of the digestive system. What it does is it figures out thing coming out is a solid, liquid, or gas. It also controls whenever the solid, liquid, or gas should come out of your body.

There are also a few other organs we missed. Starting with the liver which is located in the upper right-hand portion of the abdominal cavity, beneath the diaphragm, and on top of the stomach, right kidney, and intestines. The liver is shaped like a cone and is a dark reddish brown color and it weights about 3 pounds . The liver is a regulator for all the chemical levels in the blood and excretes a product called bile this product helps carry away all waste products from the liver All the blood leaving the stomach and intestines passes through the liver. The Heptic artery and the Heptic portal vein supply blood to the liver .The liver consists of four lobes, which are each made up of eight sections and thousands of lobules .The liver as well as having great functions can also cause great defects which can be life threatening if not treated properly .Some of these diseases include Hepatitis A. Hepatitis B.,Hepatitis C., liver cancer, Cirhosis.

There is also the gallbladder which stores bile, which is produced by the liver to digest fat. Its a thick liquid that when eating it goes to the small intestine. The pancreas produces enzymes that help do many things. Those enzymes help control blood sugar, digest food, and is even the organ that can tell when your stomach is empty. The pharynx is in both digestive and respiratory systems. What is does is it helps you breath while also directing food and liquid to the rest of your digestive system. Finally the rectum job is to hold waste (poop) until ready to use release (use the bathroom).
