The Thorn Birds is a historical fiction novel by Colleen McCullough. Set in Australia, the story follows the Cleary family over several decades, focusing on their love, struggles, and the challenges they face. The main theme of the book is forbidden love, especially between Meggie Cleary and Father Ralph de Bricassart, a priest who must choose between his love for Meggie and his religious vows.

The plot centers around Meggie’s deep, unfulfilled love for Father Ralph. Their relationship is complicated by Ralph’s commitment to the Church, which forces him to make painful decisions. The story unfolds over generations, exploring the complexities of family, love, and sacrifice.

The characters are well-developed. Meggie Cleary is a strong woman who faces both happiness and heartbreak. Father Ralph is a priest torn between his duty to the Church and his feelings for Meggie. The other members of the Cleary family, including Meggie’s brothers and mother, also play important roles in the story.

The Thorn Birds is a touching novel that combines emotional moments with a rich historical setting. It shows the characters’ inner struggles and the difficulties they face in their relationships. I really enjoyed this book because it made me think about the choices we make and the sacrifices we have to make. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys emotional stories with strong characters, especially those who like books about family and the challenges of love.

“The ABC Murders” by Agatha Christie. (Elina Shaikh)

“The ABC Murders” is a detective novel by Agatha Christie that once again proves her mastery of the genre. This is an unusual story that differs from classic detective novels, where there is a single murder, a limited circle of suspects, and a clear motive. Here, the killer follows a planned order, and Poirot has to figure it out by solving the clues in his letters.

The plot of the book is gripping: a mysterious murderer known as A.B.C. commits crimes in alphabetical order, choosing victims and crime locations based on the first letters of their names and towns. Poirot receives letters from the murderer with hints about future crimes, leading to an intense intellectual duel.

The characters in this novel are well-written. Hercule Poirot is a brilliant detective who doesn’t just search for clues but analyzes human psychology and notices small details that others overlook. Hastings, from whose perspective the story is told, remains a loyal companion, while the criminal himself is a mysterious figure whose motives remain unclear for a long time. It is fascinating to see how Christie creates false leads, making the reader question everything.

This book is perfect for people who love detective stories. It keeps you guessing until the very end, and the resolution is unexpected yet, as always with Agatha Christie, entirely logical. If you enjoy mysteries, unexpected twists, and clever investigations, The ABC Murders is an excellent choice.

And the book itself will make you feel fear, horror, doubt, and pure surprise.

This book initially tells about the life of an ordinary person around 1900-1920. About how he tried to make his way from the bottom as a poet, but made his way to the top as an unknown intelligence officer. I don’t want to spoil the entire book because... There are a lot of interesting things there that you need to find out for yourself.

The most interesting fact is that this book is written based on real events, based on the memoirs of an unknown intelligence officer.
