         <title>Fireweed</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The parts of the plant that grow above ground are used to make medicine. Fireweed is used for pain and swelling (inflammation), fevers, tumors, wounds, and enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH). It is also used as an astringent and as a tonic.<br><strong>Edible Parts</strong>: The leaves, stems, and flowers are <strong>edible</strong> in the spring but become tough and bitter in summer. You can split open the stems of old plants and eat the pith raw. They are a good source of vitamin C and vitamin A. The root can be roasted after scraping off the outer covering but often taste bitter.</div>]]></description>

When adding to a cooked dish, the stems and flowers can be used also.<br><strong>health benefits: </strong>People take chickweed for constipation, stomach and bowel problems, blood disorders, <strong>asthma</strong> and other lung diseases, <strong>obesity</strong>, a <strong>vitamin C</strong> deficiency disease called scurvy, a <strong>skin</strong> condition called psoriasis, rabies, itching, and muscle and joint <strong>pain</strong>.<br><br></div>]]></description>
