Dear friends,

We hope you're doing well. We are on the cusp of 2025, which will represent the 50th year anniversary of the end of the War in Southeast Asia and a new Trump presidency. Five decades later, Southeast Asian refugees are still experiencing the residual impacts of war and genocide that took place in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. The legacy of war and trauma our communities have experienced and trying to heal from has only been exacerbated by the deportation crisis that has been taking place for over 20+ years. Time and time again, as our organizations have risen up to support Southeast Asian refugees who have been detained, at risk of deportation, and deported, they have all shared similar stories and experiences of resettlement to the United States as refugees and the challenges they encountered - lack of access to services and resources due to language barriers, being resettled in underresourced and divested neighborhoods, racial discrimination and violence, as well as the federal policies in the 1990s that began to funnel Southeast Asian community members into the prison-to-deportation pipeline. 

With much urgency, we are demanding that President Biden and his administration be accountable to our most directly impacted community members by granting federal pardons to all Southeast Asian refugees before his term ends.
