1. In Kate dicamilo's early she worked at disney  she never thought she would be a writer. Every day at work she said she was a loser and would never write.  2.When Kate was at college  her profesor told her she should think about graduate school .He said have a great use of words. 3.Kate did not start writing until about 30 but she wanted to start in her 20's. 4.Kate has 4 novels and 6 picture books.all six picture books are the mercy watson series. 5.Kate won the new berry prize in 2004 for the tale of Despereaux and she also won many more. 6. 2. Kate Dicamillo wrote six novels and four picture books. Six novels were The miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, Because of Winn Dixie, The magicians Elephant, The Tale of Desperaux, Tiger Rising,Flora and Ulysses.
3. The Tale of Desperaux won the Newberry award because of the unlikely friendship between a princess and a mouse.
4. Kate Dicamillo loves writing animals in her books. In Because of Winn Dixie there is a dog in The tale of Desperaux there is a mouse in Edward Tulane there is a Rabbit made of China and more
5. She loved having adventure in her books. In The Tales of Lousie the Chicken lousise has a huge adventure going to the circus going on a pirate ship when she got locked in a cage and found a way out.
6. Kate wrote Because of Winn Dixie because she was homesick with out a dog and with a bad snowstorm. 
7. She hates writing but she loves having written because she always says i'm not gonna write but she ends up doing it and then she does the next day.
8. A eight year old kid gave her the idea the idea to write the The Tale of Desperaux because he said you will like writing it,      it's about a unlikely friendship then she ended up doing it.

1.Kate started writing around age thirty. Kate wanted to write in her twenties but she never wrote anything. Finally around age thirty she started writing.
2.Kate wrote four novels and six picture books. Kate's four novels are, "Because of Winn-Dixie", "The Tale of Desperaux", "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane", and "Tiger Rising." Her six picture books are all of the, "Mercy Watson", series.
3.She didn't have to be talented but she had to be persistent. Kate's teachers said she was talented at writing but she realized that she had to be persistent to write. That means she had to get up, drink some coffee, start writing, and do the whole thing all over again.
4.Kate wrote, "Because of Winn-Dixie", because she was homesick. Kate was homesick because she wanted to go back to Florida, (where she grew up in), and she wasn't aloud to have a dog in her apartment building in Minneapolis.
5.Kate had pneumonia whenever she was five years old. Kate moved from Philadelphia all the way to Florida because the doctor said the warm weather would cure her pneumonia. She also read a lot when she had pneumonia so that's one of the reasons how she became a famous writer today.
6.In Kate's books mostly all of her characters are unlikely friends. Having unlikely friends in all of her books can show that you can make friends no matter how different they are to you.
7.Kate learned the word, capacious from a book called, "The Thistles in Sweden." If Kate didn't learn that word she would have not used it in one of her books. Also Kate and her mom were going to a coffee shop and Kate's mom fell. She couldn't get up and Kate used the word capacious then. (Kate's mom was okay.)
8.Kate worked at Disney World before she became a writer. Kate needed to have a job to get money so she worked at Disney world. If Kate didn't do that job she could've not become a writer because she wouldn't know how work is.
9.Kate got the Newberry Metal. The Newberry Metal is an award for writers that have great children's books. That must of made Kate feel like she had done something good for the world.
10.Kate went to the University of Florida. If she didn't go to college she probably wouldn't be a writer because if you don't go to college then you don't get more education to have a good job. Also if Kate didn't go to college her teachers wouldn't have told her that her writing was fantastic.

8. She is determined. If she was not she would have gave up on her books a long time ago.

1. Kate DiCamillo  loved to read as a child. She hoped one day she could read one of her own books and that's how she wanted to become a writer.
2. Kate loved her book Flora and Ulysses. Every time Kate got to the last line of it joy filled her heart because she loved the book so much.
3. Children appreciated Kate's work. After Kate wrote Because of Winn-Dixie the children wanted more books from the Minnesota author Kate DiCamillo .
4. Desperaux was her third novel. Kate said that she couldn't write the Tale of Desperaux but she never gave up and she wrote it anyways.
5. Kate continued to write book. She didn't stop writing even this fall a book is coming out that she wrote.
6. Kate relized for 10 years that she wasn't going to be a writer until she wrote something. She wrote many picture and novels, after her first book.
7. Kate thinks that it is lucky for her to tell her stories for a living. She thought that when the children read her books it brought joy to her face that kids were actually enjoying her work.
8. Kate was homesick. When Kate was homesick and to long without a dog it gave her an idea to write her very first book Because of Winn-Dixie and every time she read it it took her home.
9. She knew it wasn't easy to write books. When Kate was working at Disney world she knew that other authors there were better than her but she still wrote books anyways.
