When one is stuck on a situation and feels hopeless on finding a situation, you then go to others(such as peers and superiors) for help on how to deal with the issue. You know when you need to stop trying to handle everything by yourself, so you listen to others' ideas as a possible solution. Furthermore, you know that when the issue becomes too much to handle (for yourself AND others), you know to move on to another topic so everyone feels comfortable.

Some strategies are making sure to NOSTUESO when others want to speak or share something with the group, but also to share on topics that everyone else is comfortable with in the whole group. This will ensure that everyone is respected and feel comfortable within the whole group.

One way to ensure that this boundary is kept is to write a norms list and post it in the classroom for the whole year. Another thing is to set a norm that is something was uncomfortable with you, one can verbalize why that was maybe an inappropriate topic. ("oops, ouch"). Lastly, another way to ensure that everyone knows what is expected of a topic, one can give trigger warnings so that if someone is uncomfortable, they can turn their camera off, or leave the room, etc.

Example: hugs
Setting it: when someone goes in for a hug let them know you'd prefer if they asked permission.
Maintaining it: Leading by example and asking other ppl permission before hugging. Also continuing to make sure ppl ask you permission.

Example: Social distancing
Setting it: When someone approaches you and gets too close let them know you value your 6 foot bubble.
Maintaining it: Follow your own rule but also try to take steps back when someone gets too close to try and preemptively signal you'd like your space.
