In 1968, James Arl Ray assassinated MLK, the campaign for a federal holiday in king's honor began soon after his assassination and finally in 1983 President Ronald Reagan singed the holiday into law, but it was first observed three years later.

The MLK day is a day which celebrated every year as a memorial to Martin Luther King. He fought for the equality of the African- americans in the sociaty. The day is mentions every year on the third monday of january- close to King's birthday (january 15).
