This means I cannot set up an ideal English lab with all things ready..
+for languages we have a language lab = with earphones with microphones so that SS can speak in pairs and the teacher can hear them and talk to them.
+ we have 3 IT classrooms. Usually for up to 16, maximally 19 students.
+in most school's classrooms there is a computer on the teacher's desk, a projector or the white interactive board.
- we have no tablets for students and this troubles me since I would like to use them in my lessons. In the school there are 10 Samsung tablets among teachers. I have one since I am interested in technologies. I am still thinking whether to use BYOD or not if we do not have the tablets.
+ This year I have got from school a notebook to use, which is very exceptional. It was a sort of reward from my management for my hard work. Normally we are three teachers for one desktop computer, now in my office I have a notebook. I wish every teacher had a compzter available to use just for him.
In the picture there is me and my colleague Karolína with some of our SS in the eTwinning Club- an after school activity we run this year. We write an online magazine with other 4 European schools.

1) The Internet has totally changed possibilities of language teachers. Blessing for us.
2) SS should be active, very often they are just passive receivers of information from the teacher, e.g. in history or biology. Of course, with added discussion and some classroom fun.
3) The problem is the load of content SS must learn in a subject. Collaborative work / project work last sometimes 4 times longer than if a teacher just passes info and SS write down.
4) Teachers who try to modernise school are usually rare exceptions. There is not enough time or/and motivation. They need training at the school. Some expert who would show them good practices.
5) Some SS prefer to be passive. OK, I also like listening to lectures, given by inspirational and smart people. BUT - it should not be the main workmode at school.
******* In a lesson about Beowulf my SS made a kenning about school- the kennings inlcuded e.g. words like hell and prison. Maybe another reason for a change.

My thoughts to the video:
1) Yeah, I myself feel that the traditional classroom seating arrangement should be changed and be more varied, with more movement possible and should be less teacher centered.
- Unfortunately, there is a problem if a teacher and SS change classrooms, which is the typical situation in our school, and have only a 10-minute break to put everything back where it should be and move away.
2) To define the own goals is what needs to be more specified. e.g. choosing a project theme / method by the S is OK and better. What else is meant by the own goal? Since there is a school curriculum.

21st century skills:
CREATIVITY- should have a lot of space at school.CREATIVITY- should have a lot of space at school. During the creation process people very often learn to reach their goal / bring an idea to life and can self-direct their learning without being pushed by the teacher.
! It requires personal responsibility from the student and internal motivation.

COMMUNICATION -
necessary for life, relationships, work. social skills

COLLABORATION - my experience has shown that we must give SS enough opportunities for team work to learn skills for successful cooperation and shared responsibility.
Plus, collaborative work makes SS really work and be active. I can see the difference.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY + CITIZENSHIP

foreign language - majority of people need it in their adult life
cultural awareness- people must be more tolerant
digital competence
- tech will make your life and career easier if you master it
mathematical competence - WHY?
I really do not know- I live pretty nice without deep Maths knowledge, most of secondary-school Maths I have forgotten.

Firstly - I like that the space is colorful and varied, not rigid.

My current issue - we have to change classrooms and have only 10-minute break to run to our office and to another classroom. Not even mention to go to the bathroom, a luxury. You are not able to prepare almost anything before the lesson, keep things at the spot, etc.. I would LOVE to have my own classroom. Of course, with tablets, laptops, projector:) Fantasy..

QUESTION TO CONSIDER
There are around 30 students in an average classroom in many countries, aren't there? Have you tried it with this number?
In the video it looks like that in every zone there are just several students. It means that the SS would be at different stages of work.

My THOUGHT:
It is not manageable because of lack of space and number of students. Sorry.
Maybe it is not about zones, but IT IS ABOUT THE WORK STAGES and EQUIPMENT and from the video apparent STUDENT-CENTERED LEARNING, COLLABORATIVE WORK and RELAXED ATMOSPHERE.

I have no fixed classroom, this classroom is shared so I can't have all my lessons in it.
I have my 2 English seminars in 90 minute blocks ( about English speaking countries- their history, literature, culture, etc.) there.
Students can work on computers, there are 19 computers. I also have the etwinning Club there with my colleague, we publish an online magazine with students- 'eMates' in Joomag.
For English I have only 16 students, half of normal class. Jupeee. There is a projector so SS can also sit in the center and listen to or give presentations. Plus, there is enough space to move, rearrange the chairs, so you can do groupwork and SS do not bother other groups.
Instead of a classical white board there could be interactive smart board.
I am repeating myself but I would appreciate a set of tablets for students:) We have none.

I can't keep my things there since we change classrooms and have things ready and prepared. This bother me a lot.

If I understand it correctly it is a person that should be interested in the innovation. So in my opinion the stakeholders are these:
! Ministry of Education - there should be bigger talk about innovations
and the load of knowledge, information students must be taught. If you have projects, you can teach a lot of skills, a topic in deep detail, etc., but you cannot cover in a year so many topics. Moreover, if we let students choose what they want to study.
1. The management of school
2. the teachers - they will need training. Are they willing to? Some teachers are not that is the fact. Can you order them to? You will need a hard-working and motivating management that would be inspiring enough to make the teacher work and want. The management must be more hard-working and innivative than teachers.
3. the regional council who is our school's official founder and gives us money from the Ministry of Education - but it depends on the laws how big a word they can have in innovations in the schools
4. parents who work in companies that can give financial support
!!! Universities accept students either without an test because they just need students or students take entrance exams, usually encyclopedia tests- facts, data or sometimes logical tests and 'study-talent' test.

After passing a course aimed at collaboration at the ESAcademy, I tried several collaborative activities in my classes. I spent a lot of time on the lesson plans, assessment rubrics, peer-assessment rubrics too. They got two marks, one for the team work and presentation, one for their individual English performance while speaking. Students usually created st. together and it took like 8 lessons max, with presentations too. So from my observations: SS were more active - it was student-centered / they had to communicate with each other and discuss and compromise/ they made decisions / they gave each other different roles/ they shared responsibility for the final result- which was very important for them. They used padlets / glogster / genially, Internet / camera. Good planning makes the final result of high quality, students should know what is expected from them and what the assessment will be like. If you have time, it is really a good idea to make the assessment with the students together.
For some students it is a novelty since in many classes they just listen and write down. Not in English but it is the prevalent mode.
Students' team work - a presentation given by the help of genially.
The Genially - it has a collaborative mode, more students can be logged into one concrete presentation BUT THEY CANNOT WORK AT THE SAME TIME. IT SHOWS THAT IT IS OCCUPIED BY ONE STUDENT. IT IS BAD. I wanted them to try a new tool in this case. But better would be to let them choose the tool.

Students go outside of school to collect data. The data can either be in the form of multimedia or scientific observations. Either the entire class goes outside, or only some of the students.
You record mental notes about learners. These notes are based on your observations of their working habits, personality traits, social connections, hobbies, and special skills. The mental notes aid in forming functional teams and also support your interactions with your students. You use the TeamUP tool to record your notes.
You divide the class into small teams of 4-5 learners that are optimal for collaboration. Each team has their own topic of inquiry that is related to the theme of the course. You let the learners suggest topics they are interested in and use the TeamUP tool to match learners and topics, using information stored in mental notes.
THIS IS INTERESTING: TEAM NEWSFLASHES Independently working individual learners or teams of learners post periodic status updates for other learners and you to be able to follow the independent activities and progress.
PEER FEEDBACK: Learners view each other’s work and provide feedback, praise, and criticism. Peer feedback can be used when students present their project outcomes, but it can also be used as part of a knowledge building activity, when students are discussing about a challenging topic.
I would like to try the OUTSIDE EXPERT: Students receive additional and/or deeper knowledge from an out-of-school expert of a relevant field. In addition to a video interview, the expert may be involved in following teamwork and commenting on it.

Have I used Flipped Classroom so that SS did learning at home? Not something really thought out or with technology. Actually I told them to pre-study some grammar in workbook but not everybody does that. Students have many after-school actvities, sports, homework from many subjects. I am thinking whether they would appreciate this. I like it but it means extra work and SS will look at it as homework. Some will do it, some not.I would need to see some working practice and speak to teachers who do it. I am not telling it is not doable but has this homework nature. Imagine all subjects do it.
It needs a discussion with students.

In this video, Will introduces you to an example of how an iTEC teacher has used generic Learning Activities and turned them into an innovative and contextualised narrative to use in the classroom, in other words a Learning Story.
1. DREAM ACTIVITY- SS dream up what their video story about friction will be like
DESIGN
SCRIPT
2. EXPLORE ACTIVITY - SS carry a research of the topic of friction and other science videos
3. MAP ACTIVITY- SS organize their ideas for the content and research in a mind map and start to create storyboards. SS in pairs comment on each other's plans.
Popplet - mind-mapping tool
REFLECT ACTIVITY- Students and the teacher record, post and share audio-visual reflections and feedback of project progress, challenges and future steps. The students slowly build a shared collection of ways to tackle challenges, which can be used after the project ended.
4. ASK and COLLABORATE ACTIVITY

After having created a product as part of their work (prototype, presentation, design, etc.) student teams meet with 2–4 “experts”. These “experts” could be future users, readers, or recipients of the product created by the team. Expertise may be interpreted broadly, for example, a construction site worker can be considered to offer deep insight into the everyday practices of people on a building site. Other students or teachers can also be considered as “experts” in certain areas. The student teams communicate their ideas using prints, drawings, models or other supporting materials. The “experts” are encouraged to modify and comment on the product. After the meeting the students analyze the comments and decide how to interpret them for their re-design. They then refine their product, especially in relation to the challenges, context and added value of the result, record a reflection and update their documentation. This activity can happen more than once at varying time investments and can be conducted online or face to face.

5. MAKE ACTIVITY - recording and editing the video with own phones
6. SHOW ACTIVITY - SS share their video on youtube / Vimeo
Comments and feedback can be added.
LEARNING SCENARIO - make a video about friction

So I have not tried this one.
-Thanks to the course I will enrich my lessons and I am thinking of experimenting with the seating arrangement.
I suppose that some things will come up later. It is not done with the end of the course.
-I will share with colleagues.
Thanks to the organizers who share knowledge for free and give to us certificates . I will have no materialistic benefit from having the certificate, it is for me.
I wish everyone more non/financial support from their management and governments.

The key benefit of such a process is, that it does not only benefit the person receiving the feedback but also the person providing the feedback. Reviewing or assessing someone else's work requires a reflection of one's own work as well as a reflection of what works and what doesn't. Peer review is therefore an effective form of professional development for both sides taking part in the review.
Peer review is of course also an effective activity for students that promotes collaboration, critical thinking and self-reflection. Take a look at the video below from MIT where professors and students tell of their experiences of using peer-review in teaching and in academia. It introduces a lot of interesting ideas about the value of peer-review.

With Sutori, teachers can assign a pre-created story to students for studying and working. They can also assign students to work on their own stories by themselves or with a partner.
the scrolling top-to-bottom style of learning is engaging and easy

it features lots of options for adding items to a story
it’s web-based, which means that students can access Sutori stories from any web-enabled device (tablet, smartphone, laptop, Chromebook, etc.)
PRO TIP: Create your own video with Screencastify for Google Chrome (screencastify.com). Record your screen or with your webcam. You can include audio from your microphone. Save your recording to YouTube to add to a Sutori story. (This post has ideas for creating videos with Screencastify in class.) Here are some ideas for using Sutori in class:
IDEAS

Class discussions: Provide some information with text, images, videos, etc. Then ask a few questions with the forum tool and let students discuss.

Timelines: Sutori is set up like a timeline. If you’re studying anything across history, you can create amazing multimedia timelines.

Student self-assessment: Provide some content for students to learn, but include multiple choice and matching questions along the way. Sure, you can’t grade them and put them in the gradebook. But giving students some self-assessment puts responsibility for checking their learning in their own hands.

Progression: Timelines are time/date-based. Sutori stories are great for showing the order in which something happens, with the first item at the top and the last item at the bottom. Images (screenshots, photos taken with a mobile device or webcam) can show steps visually.

Interactive poster projects: Mash up information, images, videos and more. Throw out the posterboard and glue sticks. Let students create with a Sutori story instead.

Storyboarding/storytelling: Sutori is well suited to storytelling. (So much that they call creations in Sutori “stories.”) Start with the first details at the top of a Sutori story. Progress through and end the story at the bottom. Multimedia lets you add a new dynamic to stories.

Current events: Pull in links to news articles, opinion pieces and blog posts. Add news photos. Then add a forum to let students digitally discuss what they’ve read and seen. The best discussions in the forums can lead to in-class, face to face discussions. Here’s a student-created story about the Dakota Access Pipeline

Class routines: This works great for younger students who need some guidance in getting their day started. Here’s a teacher example of a morning routine Sutori story.

Note taking: Students can take notes with Sutori — or transform their notes into interactive notes with images, videos, audio and more. It works great for teacher note-taking, too! Here’s one educator’s notes from a conference.

Travel documentation: Going on a field trip? Have a student traveling to a cool destination? Pull photos, text, videos, links and more into a Sutori story to show the class. Here’s a Sutori user that traveled to Brussels and shared her experiences.

MAKING a BOOK TRAILER for a RESPECTED WORK of AMERICAN LITERATURE
Hello,

I am an English teacher in a grammar school in the Czech Republic. Our students are selected based on their study skills, they usually go to university. They have study potential and are smart, so some things are easier for me as a teacher, some more difficult.

The plan is for 18/19 year old students of the last grade. I have prepared a learning story for a seminar 'Realie' where intermediate/upper-intermediate students of the final year of the grammar school study also American literature. It is an elective seminar. But I cannot say that they all love reading..

The story is MAKING A BOOK TRAILER FOR A RESPECTED WORK OF AMERICAN LITERATURE. The story should take app. FIVE 45-minute lessons. I want them to do most of the work at school so that I can observe them working.

The goal is

1) to attract the students for reading making the books attractive through book trailers

2) to make them study and revise a respected work of American literature in detail

3) to develop students' 21st century skills - mainly CREATIVITY and TECHNOLOGY SKILLS. Collaboration among students will not be the case, mainly for peer informal assessment of the 1st draft, because my students have recently made a collaborative project in groups. So this time they will create the book trailers individually.

An important part of the story is a collaboration with another group of the same seminar that my colleague teaches in a way that the groups will watch the book trailers of the other group and vote for the best 3 book trailers. So there will be award ceremony included. However, all the trailers will be assesses with the help of assessment grid created in the first lesson my my students and me.

TOOLS and sorces: computers, the Internet, EDMODO, Popplet, Word Document, Animoto, QR maker online, printer, earphones.

We will display QR codes of the book trailers in the school corridors so hopefully we will affect other students too and they will read an American literature book.

https://v.gd/SuJRXp

Kind regards,

Šárka Opatová

Gymnázium Děčín, the Czech Republic,

My diary: https://padlet.com/sarka_opatova/futureclassroomscenarioscourse
