The State of Ohio Minor Labor Laws document states, "No employer shall employ a minor more than 5 consecutive hours without a rest period of at least 30 minutes." This law was made to prevent minors from being overworked and exhausted without a break from their employer. Children who worked during the Industrial Revolution had to work tirelessly without a break from their hard work.

The State of Ohio Minor Labor Laws document states, "No person under 16 shall be employed for more than 3 hours a day in any school day." This law was made to prevent students who work from missing school days and becoming too tired if they work late into the night. Also, if minors did work late at night, then they probably wouldn't have enough time to complete their homework and assignments. In the Industrial Revolution, children worked late into the night and had to work early the next day. This is why the law was created.

In the State of Ohio Minor Labor Laws document, minors between 14 and 17 could not work in coal mines. They cannot work in coal mines because if you breathe in a lot of coal dust and the dirty air in the mines, then you can get very sick and possibly get diseases. In the Industrial Revolution, people worked in coal mines and got sick. They created this law to prevent minors from getting sick.

The State of Ohio Labor Laws document states, "No employer shall give employment to a minor without agreeing with him/her as to the wages or compensation he/she shall receive for each day, week, month, year or per piece for work performed." This law was created to help reduce people from being underpaid. During the Industrial Revolution, minors were underpaid greatly even though they performed heavy labor. This law was made to prevent minors from being underpaid by their employers.

In the cartoon, it shows a picture of children carrying a factory across a total wasteland. This shows us that child labor carried businesses through industrialization and they depended on child labor to succeed. The waste and garbage in the background represents the filth and poor living conditions that existed during the Industrial Revolution.
