I rate this book 5/5 stars. It was very intriguing and it made me very eager to solve this mystery along with the characters. It started out a little bit slow, but all came together in the end. I was so interested that I had to make sure I actually read everything before turning the page to get to the solution of the murder. I also like how there is not only one clear person that ends up being guilty, but rather multiple people who are all directly or indirectly connected.

Dear Holly Jackson,

I absolutely loved your book A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. It had me on the edge of my seat, eager to find out what was going to happen next. I loved the character development and the relationships between the characters. I also loved how the story resolved in the end. This was a very well-written book that all ended up with all the puzzle pieces fitting perfectly together. The last 60-70 pages had me sitting on my bed with my jaw practically on the floor. I thoroughly enjoyed your writing and am excited to read the rest of the series!

Sincerely,

Emma Keene

Although I struggled to find the theme of this book at first, I have realized many now. First of all, like in most mysteries, I think the author believes that not all people/things are as they seem. This also goes along with another theme that I have found, which is that humans are very complex. There are lots of characters in this book that you cannot only define as "good" or "bad. The author also shows that we cannot stereotype people, and we need to know the truth for ourselves instead of just following the popular opinion. Lastly, I think this book portrays the importance of teamwork.

“And though this story does have its monsters, I’ve found that it is not one that can be so easily cleaved into the good and the bad. In the end, this was a story about people and their different shades of desperation, crashing up against each other.” - Pippa Fitz-Amobi, page 385

I think this quote shows the general conclusion of this book very well. It shows the complexity of this case and of people overall.
