Jim Heft on pp. 2-7 would be cool to have new hires read and then do the Fishbowl. This accomplishes several things: 1) We model what we want to see in classrooms--get kids to develop their own questions, get kids to lead discussions 2) We model the philosophy of Catholic ed, which is to wrestle with questions and show that faith and intellectual pursuits are one and the same. I could see having new hires read this and then we have ONE guiding question like "To what extent are these characteristics of Catholic education relevant in a 21st c. educational setting?" And then, we would also have the new hires come up with several other questions. Then, they go into the fishbowl.
