He was born on the 12 February 1809, in the merchant town of Shrewsbury, England. He died 19 April 1882, in his family house in London. He was Buried at Westminster abbey. He was the youngest of 6 children. Both his father and his Grandfather were scientists, so it was only natural that he would go into the same line of work. His mother died when he was just 8. He was one of the few people born back then that was born into wealth, and privilege. At the age of 16 Darwin enrolled in Edinburgh University with his brother, Erasmus. He originally wanted to be a doctor, but couldn't stand the sight of blood. So he decided to go into natural science. In December of 1831 he took a voyage around the world. While he was going around the globe the Galapagos Archipelago was of particular interest to him, as it had many species of the same animals with different traits. This is where he began to form his theory of Evolution.
