In Greece, men would go to the assembly to participate in government. With the Greeks foundation to democracy, democracy started to rise and affect the modern world. For example, the United States has a type of democracy called a representative democracy, also called a republic.

Between the 590s and 600s BC, a man named Solon created a variety of laws that allowed all free men in Greece to be considered a citizen. A citizen is a person who has the right to participate or vote in government. Then, in the modern world, a citizen could be either a male or female. So, because of Solon's new laws, citizens were created which led to the development of people having some power in government, or a democracy.

Another Greek philosopher named Aristotle taught his students to use reasoning and self-control. He also taught his students to use old facts to prove new facts. Today, scientists use Aristotle's methods to solve problems and figure out new facts about the world, like what constellations mean. Besides scientists, other people could use Aristotle's techniques for their everyday lives and in their jobs. For example, people use sales in the market to try and make their products better. So, because of Aristotle's teachings, people can now figure out new facts and use reason in their everyday lives.

The White House also has the same ideas as the Parthenon. Both of these structures share a similar design as the columns back then in Ancient Greece.
