A Underdog is shown in this story by Danny Wilcox. Danny Wilcox shows being an underdog in many ways. For example he is an Underdog going into the Basketball Summer camp. Going into this camp Danny is underrated by many of the scouts for high school basketball. This later changes because Danny continues to prove himself as a top tier point guard in high school.

The tone of this book is frustration and bipolar because the main character Carley is developing a relationship with her "new" family in Connecticut from previously being in Vegas with her abusive mother and Step Dad. Throughout the book Carley wishes she could be with her Mother because she feels she does not fit in with family, but as the book goes on she develops relationships with Michael Eric, Daniel and Adam, but mostly Mrs. Murphy. Mrs. Murphy cares about her like a daughter and hopes she can stay with them instead of going back to Foster Care. SCAR ISLAND by Dan Gemeinhart. Noble Self sacrifice is displayed in SCAR ISLAND. Jonathan, the main character, is sent to an island because he has "committed a crime". Jonathan knows that he hadn't started the fire that killed his sister. He sacrificed his well being so he can honor his sister and let her rest in peace. Jonathan had the chance to prove himself innocent, his sister had taken his matches and started a fire with them but he didn't want to push all the guilt on her and make her seem like the she was the adversary in the situation. The picture shows that the fire had caused Jonathan to be sent to the lighthouse which was also a prison/asylum.
