Storybird's main feature is reading and writing simple children's books for everyone to enjoy. This can be used as a read aloud resource in the classroom or together as a class, the whole class can create a story together and get it published online for millions of people to read all over the world! Storybird does have a seven day free trial before you have to pay a subscription to keep being able to access the website which is a downside, so take advantage of that free seven day trial when/if you sign up for it. Many people get featured as their stories become very popular and this may be a place to test out a story before making any publishing decisions officially.

Storybird has a lot of strengths such as having a feature in which you can learn to become a better writer and has writing courses you could take! Most books are easy to access and you can see the most popular books of the week or sort it in different categories to find exactly what you are looking for. It helps teach early reading and writing skills to kids and you as a teacher will learn a lot about writing yourself that you may not have known before!

Limitations of Technology

As to everything these days, this site does have a paywall after a seven-day free trial which starts automatically after you've signed up. After that trial is up, you have the option of choosing different plans. Your school could also opt for a school plan if they decide that Storybird is a very useful tool for a majority of the staff members in the school. Having a non-member account only gets you limited access to what you can post and how much you can post on the site if you decided to post a class book or something along those lines. Overall it is a pretty simple site, but without some form of monthly or annual payment plans, then your options of features gets pushed down.

This technology could be very useful in an early childhood classroom as it can help encourage students to write their own stories and get inspirations. In an early childhood classrom, teaches focus on getting students to read and write in a sequential order to help form stories. This site can be helpful in showing children a beginning, middle, and end of a story that could be written by someone their age!
