Women suffrage was a very big thing during the gilded age. A lot has changed since then although the women during this time were very mistreated. It all went from simple housewives to women who wanted a voice in this country especially when it came to the voting elections. Women during this time felt as though life as though they were just there to serve men and that did not sit right with them.
Eventually women came together and created groups for women rights one of the big ones is the right to vote act. They wanted to come together to change the constitiution and they even came to the point where they did not like male and women politicians. In the article ¨Womenś suffrage - the gilded age" the author states " The leaders of the two groups thought that if they both combined, they would be able to make a better impact¨ (McGerr, 2009, para 4) Since there were many groups wanting the same thing which is women rights to vote they all combined their groups making a stronger appeal to then change the constitiution.
(Picture is a letter written by Emma Smith DeVoe)

During the gilded age politics ran in to some conflicts and transformations that changed how they look at politics forever! Of course the main party's were democrats and republicans but there was vast changes within them. This then led them to make a new party called the Populist party.
During this process they were trying to make America more urbanized. The populist party spoke about making the needs of the citizens more urgent. This was important because the populist party wanted their needs met and being apart of the populist could seriously help make this happen. In the article "Populist Party Platform Of The Gilded Age" the author states "This policy platform tried to address the needs of these rural Americans who felt left behind" (Puhge, nd, para 5). They wanted to enforce a policy so no citizen was left behind during all these changes due to urbanization. This helped farmers and more people pay off their debt. The populist party was an success.

Labor was very difficult for workers during the gilded age. The workers worked countless numbers of shifts getting paid little to no money at all. Even children worked during this time. It was very stressful for these workers to live and provide for their families. Let alone most of these work settings were unsafe and a lot of workers got hurt.
Soon after they seen how bad laboring has got they wanted to make a huge change. They united and demanded for a change although they has no education, money, etc. When they united they would protest for better wages and work environments and for children to have more respect and not have to work so hard because they were only children! In the article "Organized Labor" the author states "Today, many workers enjoy higher wages, better hours, and safer working conditions. Employers often pay for medical coverage and several weeks vacation" (Organized Labor, 2008-2020, para 8). If those workers were to never come together they would of have to lived like that for way longer now that is is 2021 things have changed a lot for the better.
