This is a collection of some of O Henry's best articles. In the foreign country, it is designed for a junior high school student to read, so the each story does not too long to read. To a Taiwanese student, some of the stories were chosen for our course in elementary school, for example, "The Last Leaf" is translated to Chinese and put in our textbook. On the consequence, we can say that O Henry is not an unfamiliar writer for us.

My thoughts on the book: 
Although the each article is not long, I still found some difficulties with it when I am reading. Maybe it is because its grammar that was used in 19th century.
As for the stories, I think they are childlike stories with a little irony. Sometimes it is positive, like "The Last Leaf," it tell us the meaning of love and the motivation to keep living. Nonetheless, it also sarcastic sometimes, like "The Cop and the Anthem." In the story, Soapy, a restless man trying many ways to make himself arrested, so that he could get through the cold winter. However, as he was touched by the anthem coming from the church and decided to make some changes for his life, he was arrested by a cop and sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
