This can link to Fishman's theory that in mixed sex conversations men talk twice as long as women, however could it be the fact that men seem to dominate a conversation more than women like the Zimmerman and West theory suggests, or actually is it because Sir Alan is the boss which would link into the diversity model. 

In the transcript Paula says 'bit of a thug' here she uses hedges and a colloquial term to be assertive in the conversation this goes against the difference theory. However Yasmina links into the into the difference model when she says 'listen guys, we're talking about this situation and managing this group of people all right. This is showing compromise which is in the difference model that women seek compromise. At the beginning of what Yasmina says she starts off with 'listen guys' this is informality and technically a command which goes against Lakoff and the deficit model that women use weak expletives or euphemism and avoid confrontational language.

Gender theory can be applied to the transcript in the following ways. Firstly Paula is seen to use non standard dialect whilst responding to Sir Alan “person ’ere”, which deviates the idea that women hyper correct themselves for overt prestige. This may be because she is talking to someone of the opposite gender, or of higher status. 
Later on Ben gets involved in the conversation, and starts an argument against Paula in which Paula was defending herself by using emphasis on certain words to go against Ben’s view. “I DID delegate it”. The emphasis on “DID”  links to the idea of women being more emotional in conversations. As “DID” is seen as one of women’s stress words.  Shortly after this Ben replies with “… you got it very very wrong”. The use of the intensifiers “very” goes against Jepersons deficit theory in which women are known to use the intensifiers so and very more than men, but Ben is proving it’s opposite.
