My first thoughts and feelings of the course is nervous.  In High school I did some digital media courses. I made an online magazine. Within this magazine I made a couple of videos. 
I found that by the end of doing this magazine, I was stressed and did not enjoy it, which was sad for me because I was impressed with myself with how much I produced. 
I chose this class as it was something completely different from my degree. I though it would offer me a nice change from all the essay writing.

At first I thought of creating a promotional video for a product, but then thought it might be too close to and advertisement ( I'm a huge converse fan).

After seeing the businesses in the lecture, I had the idea to do something with my parents restaurant. As they owners and head chef.

writing entry 1, I have discussed the promotional video with my parents. After discussing the video we all thought it would be best if I did not do the promotional video for the restaurant as it would be hard to film within the restaurant as there will be customers in the view and to get the all the customers permissions would be both time consuming and effect  the restaurant. It was also suggested that the christmas lunch isn't purely run by my parents restaurant there is others involved, so to properly promote this video, it would have to include everyone involved. Also collecting video and images for the assignment might prove hard as the restaurant wont be set up for christmas and the images may have to be sourced from older photos perviously taken.

I started heading into the idea of the video showing a different animal in the car like a rabbit. As it isn't an animal you usually see in the car, its has a sense of humour yet eye opening effect. I also started to find myself going along with the idea of a dog being your best friend. When i added more bubbles to that idea, I found a new idea for my video. with the best friend idea, the use of an actually person came into my head. rather than using a dog, I thought about using a person to represent what happens when you leave a dog in the car. This perspective for me seems to be one i want to follow through with. I had the idea to film two people in the car being best-friends going for a drive, then one friends gets out and leaves the other in the car. then just like what would happen with a dog, the windows are up and the dog becomes hot, this could be done with a person instead, as not many people leave their friend in the car on a super hot day. this might be a very powerful message to convey.  

The difficult part of my topic is that there are a lot of promotional material around that all follows the same idea of using dogs, or certain items. After doing my mind map and going back over the lecture for week 2, I found myself forming a range of perspectives that I could follow with my promotional. Obviously I identified that just filming a dog in the car would be very boring and common. I thought my message could get across that no man gets left behind, or mates look after each other. I also thought about reversing the roles. What if the dog was the human and the human was the dog. my topic area affect a selection of people:
animals- The most obvious would be the animals especially dogs. although they cant watch the video or understand, it will benefit them if their owners and people surrounding them understanding and are made aware of the dangers of leaving dogs in the car. In the research I undertake it will be important to find statistics on how many cases per year dogs are left in the car.
Dog owners-
The video would affect dog owners in attempting to create awareness of leaving their pets in the cars.
Animal organisations-
The video will also involve and affect the animal organisations such as RSPCA. By using some information found from RSPCA I will be able to create a more informing video that will hopefully in theory work with the current RSPCA work.
Who is my target audience?
My target audience for this video is most obviously pet owners specifically but not limited to dog owners. I think my video might effect a more humours selection of people rather than serious. I would also say that the pet owners I am targeting are people that treat their dog as a family member. Pet owners that take their dog places, in the car or not. Dog owners who take their dogs on holidays. I would think these people greatly care for their dog and think of them as a friend. share and cherish moments with their dog. Also family pets, that are always around, coming on trips,sitting on the lounge, coming to the beach etc. I would also say my video could target working dogs. Although most of those dogs are in Utes, there are still the same dangers, in terms of how hot the Ute tray may reach and also how hot the water is and if they are in direct sun.
How do these people feel and why is it important?
These people will hopefully feel slightly concerned or slightly sad. I don't want to do the classic "devastation of emotions and being terribly sad". I am trying to make them feel that leaving the dog in the car isn't okay. For some this might even make them feel guilt, from previous times they may have left their dog in the car.
As for how these people may feel towards the dog. I am targeting people who have "bond" with their dog.

To cover the human perspective I have mentioned earlier I will research the effects of people inside cars.

Attention:
To ensure my audience is hooked in I am producing a video from a different perspective that isn't very common. I am going to have a dog and a car communicating. the car wont me animated but I want to sue the radio as a way to communicate. this dialogue gives me the opportunity to show my audience a perspective they might not have ever thought about... the car.  I am trying to connect with both the audiences heart and head. i am hoping the fact I am using a cute dog and adding emotion and life to a car I am able to connect to peoples hearts, while also using the dialogue between the car and dog to connect to peoples heads with maybe adding some statistics.
For the emotion of the video, I am hoping to move my audience from a different emotion to the start to end. At the start I want to gain the audience in a humour emotion but by the end of the commercial I hope to move them into a more serious/ sad emotion.
Interest:
 After conducting my research I have found that my target audience of dog owners are interested in the continuous health and wellbeing of their dogs. In the article written by Hens (2009) is described the relationship between dog and man as friend-friend. I am using this relationship idea to gain interest in pet owners, as this relationship is built on trust, I will be using this idea to both gain attention and interest from my audience
Desire:
As stated above I will be attacking peoples emotions in this process. Although I will attempt to create awareness through some statistics or temperature numbers, my main focus will be feelings and the heart.
Action:
For my call of action, I want people to do, two things. The first will be to visit the RSPCA website and become aware of the dangers of leaving your dog in the car, second is to make my audience second guess themselves when they say "the dog can come for a quick drive to the shops".

On the pages I want to use the Ayuthaya font as it is a easy font to read while also offering that more humorous feeling towards the text, which would flow on from my video. Finally I want to use Optima the body of my writing. I chose this font as to me it seems sharp clear and offers a sense of authority. I want that type of authority to come through in my font as the problem of leaving dogs in cars is a serious thing.
