An object Id have often in my classroom would be fruit. Top on is my blind drawing bottom is contour. I feel like this would be a fun lesson for 3rd grade students.

These were done by me. The top page was a normal countour and the bottom ones were blind countours. The left is supposed to be my computer and the right is a pair of boots.

I feel like my blind contour drawing is somehow better than my contour drawing. Maybe because I was more focused on getting it right.

The object I chose was a Converse shoe, and it was pretty interesting to see the teacher's perspective on this assignment, especially since I remember doing almost this exact assignment in high school

I think doing this activity straight from the lesson plan helped me to better understand how important it is to adapt wording to the classroom. If I were to give this lesson plan to a class of first graders they’d have a difficult time figuring out what to do.

Contour Portraits and Blind Contour Portraits (Julia Taylor)

I went through the lesson with some of my residents after our Residence Hall Leadership Council meeting. I had them do portraits instead of objects, since we didn't have anything around really- and I thought drawing each other might give them more of an incentive to participate. The drawings labeled with a 1 are the regular contour drawings and the drawings labeled with a 2 are the blind contours. I think they had fun with it, some of them definitely put in more effort than others (which I appreciate). During the discussion portion, some of the comments made were, 1) Its easy to draw the outline of the face, but facial features are more hard. 2) This is a good exercise to improve hand-eye coordination. 3) the nose is hard to draw without added shadows, since there are so many shapes within a small area.

I did a lot of drawings but these two were my favorite. I accidently went off the page with the lamp blind contour drawing but somehow it still turned out pretty good. I like this lesson because it can be done anywhere with just about anything. I think that it is good to teach kids that art can be made in a variety of contexts. Art can be made while someone is sitting in a cafe or on one's break at work. Art knows no bounds.

I decided to start simple because in the past I had done some more difficult blind contour drawings that looked kind of crazy. I think because I started off doing complicated contour drawings, it made doing this one much easier. They also look much closer to the original image than the previous ones I had done. Even though I think my blind contour of my pie was better, I think I like my soda bottle much more.
