We have given feedback on this module on numerous occasions and no substantial changes have been made. After many people suggesting the module should have a more practical element, the lecturer's response was that we don't need practical experience as we are training to be engineers and not technicians! How can we possibly learn to engineer anything if we don't physically see the thing working in front of us? Just looking at equation after equation does not increase our understanding of anything.
George's changes to the module content should never have been approved. Every time George is asked a question that relates to motorsport he doesn't know and just makes up a pathetic answer.

As someone who hates electronics, for me to be only enjoying electronics the most this semester says something. George’s lectures and dull and for the most part completely useless, he can’t take feedback and refuses to change anything he does. What’s the point ?

There is no communication between the coursework and the workshop. Most of the times when we come in to take measurements of components, the components are not there. It just seems to be no communication between the lecturer and the workshop technicians.

The common problem I have seen with all the modules is that the lecture recordings are not taken sometimes if it's for tutorials in electronics(not the case if the lecture is carried on in tutorial), powertrain and even structural module. The only thing that is recorded are the slides and not the board where most lecturers write. If the camera is used to capture the board then it's not very clear. If all the lecturers and tutorials are recorded then it would help me understand when I go home and revise my notes taken in class.

I particularly like the module as a whole but the lectures are not really engaging as there it's just dull. The coursework wasn't talked about at all until early april as it's due in early may. Some of the lectures overlap to the tutorial and that's not what tutorials are for.

I was hoping this module was going to be interesting as many students from previous years have said it was a good module. However this is definitely not the case. The module itself lacks a lot of important detail. The way Sean teaches makes the module seem harder than it is and this is not helpful. This is because many students are not confident with electronics are find a difficult subject. Therefor by making it seem harder than it actually is, even more students find the module harder. Sean does not explain many things clearly and when he is explaining and his constant pauses during explaining something do not help. He also has not properly introduced the assignment unlike many other lectures that introduce it early in the teaching weeks. The assignment itself is too easy can be completed to a high standard in less than 3 hours, which is good is you just want to pass the module. But it does not encourage students to learn any more knowledge that just skimming the surface of electronics and ECUs. This module is not worth the £9K I am paying for the course, which is a huge letdown.

If you ask him any questions, his commonly uses reply is "look in a textbook". Believe it or not, but this reply was given to many students on different occasions more than once. Which is a bit of a joke to be an answer from a lecturer. Which is not very funny considering I pay £9K for this course.
