I would like to encourage parents to volunteer in helping us either by joining the PTA, accompanying the school at our field trips such as apple picking, or if they could come and talk to the classroom as a guest speaker. For example, they could talk about how was Greek school when they were in grade 4.

Dimitra Kanellakos

When students write their homework, I will include tips for the parents on how to support their child's learning. On a separate sheet I can ask that the student does the reading with someone that can correct any errors; to make sure that they check what other homework they might have and when it's due and to ask them to work with the student on ways that will make studying easy and comfortable and last but not least to start a few days earlier and do the work little by little so that it is better absorbed and thought out.
Theofano

One idea I read about concerning including parents in my program is to ask them for feedback and information about their children. Helful facts on their strengths, weaknesses and interests. This would demonstrate that the teacher cares and is interested in getting to know their child well.

Anna Nikol

One idea i read and i love to implement in the future is to meet each parent in person and get to know him-her better. That way i will build a beneficial relationship with them and i can also invite them in our class to tell us about their professions. We will feel closer to each other, the students will be proud of their parents and they will be introduced to new vocabulary words by hearing them talking to us. Moreover, parents will feel more comfortable, confident and integrated parts of our small class community :)
Anthoula

I believe the idea of a parent-teacher group will benefit the school community. We all like the feeling of being part of the decision making and not fell excluded.

I should be encouraging more feedback on a regular basis. I admit I am often hesitant for a couple of reasons. First, I may get feedback I disagree with but feel I need to implement because I asked for it. The second is that implementing feedback can take time and add work to my already busy schedule. But in the end I know it is valuable and will involve parents more in the learning. At the administration level, I send a survey out every year to obtain feedback. Then I can use the summer to address the ideas
