Some more evidence I have for that is that MR Canton wanted to be in the military and he didn't make it so he acts like he should be in the military by shining his shoes and dressing nicely even though that is what a lot of teachers have to do. Then again Mr Canton is trying to convince Jack that Joseph is a bad influence and that he shouldn't try to be friends with him. But Jack thinks about him and he sees the point that Mr. Canton is trying to prove but Jack refuses to think that until the ice incident that almost Joseph almost died from.
