In the free hand of the child, is a hot pink iPad with a protective case, with CocoMelon displayed brightly on its screen. Once the mother and daughter enter the cafe and sit on an oak table, the child gently places her iPad down, and in doing so, she completely disappears. “Lauren, what do you want to drink?” Martha asks, but the child does not answer. It is like she vanished, with only the sound of her mindless cartoon being present.

As two best friends walk into a restaurant, their initial plan was to eat and spend some time together. Little did they know, who they’d be spending time with was right inside their pockets. Life in a small rectangle; the cell phone, was actually their best friend. As they are waiting for their food, they aren’t even aware of what’s around them, or who is even in front of them.

One gloomy morning, a woman and her partner decide to start their day at a small coffee shop, leading to a brief conversation that ends with one of them getting distracted by their cellular device. This then leads the other person to slowly grow attention to their own device as time passes by. They slowly begin to forget ones presence due to there focus when scrolling on social media, taking in all the information. It’s almost as if they have gone to disconnect from the world without acknowledging one another or what surrounds them.

In today's society, small conversations, awareness to our surroundings, connecting with the people around us doesn’t seem to interest us anymore but instead we pay more attention to the story our friends post on Instagram. Can you remember the last time you happened to stroll upon a coffee shop with people sitting inside. What do you see? People playing cards? Friends talking with each other? People asking strangers how their day went? Unfortunately that is not common to see in modern times. Being deeply connected to our devices has taken way a true gift from us, disregarding the blessings around us.

The hands planned on having a nice, graceful, colorful study day after a tiring school day at a small, well-known cafe, as they walked along the hollow street instead of a sunny day, as usual, which was typically bright and paraded with people. As they arrived at their favorite cafe, they were met with endless nothingness, with the room as dark as grey. They sat there in silence, with nothing to study, as they realized they had never known each other at all, sitting deep on their phone the rest of the day.

Previously, Angelo had chosen to wear a long sleeve while Dominic wore a T-shirt. They then decide on the IKEA birch table against the wall that holds four people but they choose to sit diagonally from across from it. However, something is particularly peculiar regarding their appearances. Angelo and Dominic only have a singular arm while the rest of their body is seemingly invisible. Their physical body does not bother them and they proceed to both go on their Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultras.

It was a dark and stormy night, and two siblings who had always grown up fighting and hating each other decided to meet up. They meet up in a small, popular, rustic cafe to try to get along, but as soon as they get there, they ignore each other and start swiping on their phones. The younger brother wants to know why his sister hates him so much, and he starts texting her rather than looking up and talking to her face-to-face. The sister keeps ignoring her brother when all of a sudden they both get a text telling them that their parents passed away as they were driving home, and the slippery roads caused them to slip off a cliff. Now they have to find a way to get along, plan the funeral, and grieve without fighting.
