It was a warm evening of September. At last I got off the train with my massive suitcases. It was the beginning of my Erasmus project at university in London and my luggage was stuffed with everything I needed to survive one year far from home. There it was just me and people, strangers, walking past me with no sign of compassion, bumping into my large suitcases. I was tired and the only thing I wanted was to get out of that smelly underground station. When the platform got deserted, I started to move following the "exit" signs, when with my greatest joy I saw the escalator in a distance. No one was going up. My legs were moving faster at the idea of getting out of there, but, as I got closer, I realized that it was out of order. Next to it, a line of infinite steps aligned one after the other was waiting for me and my suitcases, heavy as stones. All of a sudden a boy appeared, he was standing on the top of the steps and with a kind voice I heard him saying: "Can I help you?". I couldn't believe my eyes and with no hesitation replied "Yes, please". Every girl of my age had been told not to trust strangers, but they were wrong. This boy was the kindness in person: he carried all my luggage up the steps and took them and me to my college. I will never forget him, we didn't speak a word along the way, but the only thing I told him was a huge and heartfelt "THANK YOU"!

When i woke up i was at the Rimini hospital so i asked the driver where i could picked up another bus for the school, he said it to me but the other one was on the other side of the road, luckily ther was a red traffic light so i managed to take the other bus. That driver saved me to get a farther place.

It was a cold, rainy afternoon, and I was lost in a new city. My phone had died, and I couldn’t find my hostel. The streets were confusing, my backpack felt heavier with every step, and I was starting to feel hopeless.

As I stood on a corner, unsure of where to go, an old man noticed me and walked over. “Are you lost?” he asked kindly. I nodded and showed him the name of my hostel written on a piece of paper. He smiled and said, “Follow me. I’ll show you the way.”

We walked together through the narrow streets as the rain kept falling. He didn’t say much, but his presence made me feel calmer. Finally, we reached the hostel. I was so relieved and thanked him over and over.

The man just smiled and said, “Take care and enjoy your stay.” Then he disappeared into the rain. I’ll never forget his kindness that day—it made me feel less alone in a strange place.

One day I don't remember, me and my best friend were at a sushi restaurant for lunch. We ate very nicely and it was a great day overall. When we finished eating we went to pay. The lady at the counter told us the total and we were shocked. We didn't have enough money to pay. We started getting every little coin out of our wallets, while thinking about just running away without paying. We literally emptied our pockets but we still didn't have enough. Since we were taking a lot the girls behind us asked us what was wrong. We told them we didn't have enough money to pay and we didn't know what to do. They asked us how much we need to get go the full price, and we still needed €5. One of the girls took out of her wallet 5 euros to help us pay. We declined but she insisted so we payed with her help, thanked them so much we were nearly on our knees and we ran off.

I couldn’t call them because I had no credit in my mobile phone. I asked kindly a passer-by to give me his mobile phone to call my mom and he kindly give it to me. I called my mother and she told me to go to the hotel snd that they would come there. I didn’t know the way to the hotel so I asked the man who gave me his mobile phone. He, fortunately, knew it and told me. I thanked him and went to the hotel where my parents and brother came. The man was very kind

A few months ago, while I was walking home after a long day, something happened that I will not forget. It was one of those afternoons when you are tired, your head is full of thoughts, and you just want to go home and rest.

I was walking when I saw an old lady standing next to a shopping cart. She looked like she needed help because the cart had fallen to the side and some of her things were on the ground. The strange thing was that everyone was walking past her, not stopping. I have to admit, for a moment, I also thought about walking away because I was tired and in a hurry. But I couldn’t. I felt bad. So I stopped and asked her, “Do you need help?”

She looked at me surprised, like she didn’t expect anyone to notice her. “Oh, thank you! I can’t lift the cart, and my bag broke…”

I saw that there were some eggs broken on the ground, a bottle of milk, and a few packs of pasta. I put the cart back up and picked up the things that were still okay. The eggs were ruined, but everything else was fine.

While I was helping her, she told me she was trying to take her groceries home by herself because she didn’t want to bother anyone. I noticed her hands were shaking, maybe from the cold. I asked her, “Do you live far? If you want, I can walk with you.”

At first, she seemed a little shy, but then she said yes. “It’s not far, just a couple of streets away,” she told me with a small smile.

We walked together, and on the way, she told me she lived alone and her children lived far away. She said she always tried to do things by herself, even if it was hard sometimes. When we got to her door, she kept thanking me so much that I didn’t even know what to say anymore. Before going inside, she said, “It’s not just about the groceries. It’s because you stopped to help me. You made me feel less alone.”

Her words stayed in my head. I didn’t do anything special, but for her, it meant a lot. And, in some way, it meant a lot to me too. It made me understand that stopping for someone costs nothing, but it can really make a difference.

It takes so little to be kind.

A while ago, me and my dad met a lady while we were walking through the park. She was walking with her dog , but the dog was pulling on the leash so strongly that, suddenly, she lost her balance and fell, meanwhile her was running away. I didn’t even have time to think.I saw that my dad was helping her so i ran to get the dog. After taking the dog I noticed her nose was bleeding. We helped her heal the wound and helped her sit up and asked if she needed any assistance and if it was everything okay.We knew she lived not very far from that park so when we noticed she was recovering, we took her home, where her children where waiting her, then she thanked us for helping her.

Since that day, I’ve made it a point to check on her whenever I can, I pass by her house occasionally, just to see how she’s doing and say hello to her because I remember how scared she looked in that.I sometimes I stop to chat with her for a minute, just to make sure everything is alright.Even if I don't know her well, I care a lot about her.

However, I often wonder if she remembers me at all. I don’t think she does after all, it was just one of those things that happen in the blink of an eye. But even though she may not remember the incident, I feel good knowing that I was there for her when she needed someone. It’s a small gesture, but I think it’s important to look out for others, even in unexpected situations.

The Kind Woman and the Suitcase

I will never forget that day at the airport. I was 12 years old and coming back home from a study trip. I was alone, tired, and a bit confused. My flight had been delayed, and when I finally got to the baggage claim area, there was already a big crowd. I waited in front of the conveyor belt, watching the suitcases go by. After a while, I realized that mine wasn’t there. I kept waiting, convinced it would appear, but it didn’t. Panic started rising because, without my suitcase, I didn’t know what to do. I tried to stay calm and went to the information desk. There was a very long line, and with every passing minute, I felt more and more desperate. I was about to cry when a woman next to me, who seemed to notice my worried face, asked me if I needed help. I explained to her, with some difficulty, what had happened: I had lost my suitcase, I didn’t know what to do, and I was afraid of missing my next flight. She listened carefully and then smiled at me, a warm and reassuring smile.

"Don’t worry," she said. "Here’s what we’ll do, I’ll talk to the staff and figure it out, and you take a deep breath in the meantime." Without waiting for my answer, she walked up to the desk and started talking to the attendant. I was too nervous to follow the conversation, but I could see her gesturing and explaining the situation calmly and clearly. A few minutes later, she came back to me. "They told me your suitcase was sent to the storage area because it arrived with the previous flight," she said. "But don’t worry, I’ll come with you to get it." Together, we went to the baggage storage, and there was my suitcase, safe and with the tag still attached. I felt so relieved. I thanked her a thousand times, but she just smiled. "No need to thank me. You’re young, it’s normal to feel lost. We all need a little help sometimes." That woman disappeared into the crowd shortly after, but I will never forget her gesture. Not only did she help me find my suitcase, but she also taught me that, even in moments of panic, there’s always someone willing to lend a hand.

It was a chilly afternoon, and I was waiting at the bus stop, feeling exhausted after a long day at work. My mind was filled with all the things I still had to do, and I couldn’t shake off the weight of the day’s stress. As I stood there, a little boy, no older than six, came over and held out a small toy car.

“I think you need this more than I do,” he said with a big, bright smile. I was taken aback by his kindness and gently took the car from his hand. His simple gesture, full of innocence and warmth, instantly lifted my spirits. As the bus arrived, I couldn’t help but smile, feeling grateful for such a small but meaningful act of kindness.

One day last summer, I was walking home from the market when I saw an old woman standing on the corner of the street. She looked worried and a little lost. She was holding a small map, but she didn’t seem to know where to go.

As I walked closer, I saw that she was looking around for help. I stopped and asked her, “Do you need help?” She told me she was trying to find her daughter’s house, but she couldn’t remember the exact address. She explained that she was new in the city and didn’t know the streets very well.

While she was talking, I remembered seeing a house with the name she mentioned on the mailbox. I said, “I think I know where it is. Let me walk with you.” She smiled and said, “Thank you, you’re very kind.”

As we were walking, she told me about her family and how happy she was to visit her grandchildren. After a short walk, we arrived at the house. Her daughter was standing outside, looking a little worried. When she saw her mother, she smiled and hugged her.

The old woman thanked me many times before going inside. I felt really happy because I knew I had helped someone. It was a small thing, but it made my day special too.
