There are 3 types of irony :
- dramatic
- situational
- verbal

Dramatic : Dramatic irony is used when the audience knows more about what's going on than the characters.

Situational : This type of irony occurs when something happens that is completely different from what was expected.

Verbal : This type of irony comes to play when a speaker says one thing, but means another.

Situational : *A fire station burns down.* This is unexpected because one would assume the fire chief would keep his own building safe.

Verbal :  Saying "Oh, fantastic!" when the situation is actually very poor
