         <description><![CDATA[<p>These were the chants of Bulacan State University students together with other sectors as they held a protest led by the Katipunan Student Movement (KASAMA BulSU) in front of the DPWH Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office in Tikay, Malolos, on Thursday, September 11.</p><p><br/></p><p>The protest called out corruption and alleged misuse of funds in ghost flood control projects. Their action came in the wake of recent findings by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), which confirmed at least five non-existent or “ghost” flood control projects in Bulacan, along with several partly implemented works.</p><p><br/></p><p>President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also ordered the blacklisting and filing of charges against SYMS Construction Trading over a ₱55-million river wall project in Baliuag that was marked complete but showed no actual construction.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Ang baha ay hindi lamang isang bagay na dapat resilient lang tayo. Kumbaga, we as Filipinos must stand as one, go against the people who take our liberty na rights natin na magkaroon ng maayos na access dito sa ating sariling pamayanan,” said </p><p>Mhaverick Elizaga, KASAMA BulSU CSSP Education and Research Head.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Kasama natin ‘yung ibang organisasyon. Tayo’y manawagan sa harap ng DPWH na mag-take accountability sila sa mga bagay na hindi nila ginawa at ginawa,” said Iesu Cruz.</p><p><br/></p><p>The protest ended with students and other sectors reiterating their demand for transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.</p>]]></description>
